China executes Briton over drugs

Just an aside

Did you know that the French constitution contains a "right" that foreigners have a right to be tried in their mother tongue.

Now that, IMHO, is a pinnacle to aspire to.

yet they are trying to stop people from wearing what they prefer,

asspire to that, it's pinnaculuss :D

Funnily enough that is a constituent part of EU HR legislation also applicable here... ;)

I fear that we are moving way off topic here but

In 2004, France controversially banned Muslim headscarves and other "conspicuous" religious symbols in state schools and by public employees.
If you visit Saudi you are expected to abide by their laws, eg. alcohol, etc.
France is well known for it's non-secular approach to society. It passes laws to maintain that non-secular approach.
As in Rome.....
No doubt someone will translate that for us

The difference between the 2 is Saudi is clear on it's rules of law and France is making it up as it goes along, no?

Just been reading a article regarding this on the telegraph web page, seems like he was arrested back in 2007 so plenty of time for his condition or illness to be properly assessed if the chinese government were interested. If it was two years ago when he was seized why as it taken this long for his family to bring it out in the open to raise awareness.

Unfortunately it's difficult to raise awareness if:
a. the execution is not imminent,
b. behind the scenes talks are going on, and
c. There's too many bigots who read/write the ragtops..

I just wonder what the outcome would have been had the prisoner been a young girl with big t*ts... ;)

Anybody get the impression that there are 4 different threads going on here?
