I didn't say I agreed with it, was just putting across my interpretation of Richards views.

The only way that we can get the goal posts moved is by gripeing at Corgi. Bamber doesn't need to be registered as he employs registered engineers and oversees their work. And sacks the wallys.

Bamber a lot of the training was done by getting the pish ripped out of you inthe depot in the morning for the mistakes you had made the day before
.Also really basic the aprentices don`t travel in same van as engineer the amount of knowledge that was passed on by chatting in van has now gone get them back in same vehicle

Heatingman .... basic... BG engineers out there after a year trying to diagnos system faults when they have never and don`t even know how to pipe up a circuit. Let alone installed an open flue to know what too look for and independents are even worse

No, I said I was not Corgi Registered which is true. My company is Corgi registered & I am down under that umbrella as a gas operative. ;)

I'm fully aware of the mis-givings of BG's attitude towards specialised training, worst thing they could have done was splitting the engineers into two separate business groups.

Right had a skinfull this afternoon so rant finished and off to bed otherwise i won`t enjoy my monday off   .

i am with bamber and namsag on this one $orgi are nothing but a money grabbing monopoly, when i joined it was a voluntary organisation that did promote safety and help raise standards.
nowadays five days trainning and you can become a member of a class of person deemed competent to work with gas.****.
yes we do need a register, yes we do need regulation, yes it needs to be enforced but not by the toothless bald barstewards that hold it at the moment

I agree 100%.

With the training as is nowadays, being Corgi is a licence to kill.

But don't blame the kennel club, HSE and Goverment are where the problem starts and end

DIY knows how it works. don't shoot the messenger, or in this instance the dog.
