A simple enough question given that some perfectly reasonable Brexit related topics have been locked, and some perfectly reasonable Brexit related comments have been removed.

Think you may have made a mistake . You said Brexit o_O u generally refer to it as Brex*hit o_Oo_O

The CC brings in alot of manufacturers to this site ;) A recent manus head of technical has (or is about to ) recently signed up

That is a double edged sword, the "head of technical" could be interested to see how installers / service technicians accredited by his ( or her ) company behave when not being supervised.

this particular manu has no other rep in that forum , does not employ service agents , is probably the most enthuastic / dedicated head of a boiler tech dept in the industry ??

supervised ???

Why would a qualified and competent plumber or other trade need to use a DIY forum for obtaining advice on how to do their job.

The number of "Thanks" issued to friends in the Combustion Chamber gives a false impression of how useful the gas members are to the general DIY people who come to the forum seeking for advice.

forum rules dictate that specific gas advise cannot or must not be given out ;)

The CC is in most cases a decent place to discuss certain aspects of the trade . Apart from tech advice with it vast data base run by a few members

there are health issues discussed , legal issues discussed , help in practical terms ( & finacial has been given) to some members.

Fact is I would have no issues with the likes of you being a member ;) but imagine the chaos that would be caused in there by the likes of say Joe 90 or way r bee , or Ellal being given access :)

Yes exactly ;)

It just seems strange that a closed forum section is part of a public forum. Why is it not run as a separate forum ?. Funding could be from subscriptions paid by the professionals who benefit from membership. Since DIYnot is ( apparently ) funded by advertising to non registered readers the members of the Combustion Chamber do not contribute to the funding if the forum's running costs. ( can a person not registered as a forum member be a member of the Combustion Chamber ? )

My understanding is that as long as you are registered Gas Safe then you can be a Member of the Combustion Chamber.

Remembering that Gas Work should only be undertaken by Gas registered engineers.

Also bear in mind that on several occasions , a voluntary data base that was set up , has or was , compromised/damaged on several occasions by some one ??

concensus was that it was deliberate ;) by an out sider ?? (may be ;))

charitable donations in there have been organised as well

It’s a bit like a staff room at school. We all sit in the CC talking about Walaa Elsie and the rest of the leftie tree hungers with tea and biscuits.

The Christmas party can get a bit wild.

I suppose that the full identies of all members of the CC are known to other members of the CC as verified by thier GasSafe details.

supervised ???

In some industries the technicians and their work gets randomly inspected to verify that they are still consciencious and competant.

there are health issues discussed , legal issues discussed , help in practical terms ( & finacial has been given) to some members.

Good but in at least two other industry based forums this is provided on a subscription basis with qualified advisors available for matters like meidical and legal. Maybe the quality in the CC is better than the image of ot created by some of it's member's in the public area.

1) No not all are known

2) Work inspected by a manu ? only on a warranty call may be (?) not aware of any manu who do random inspections , even when they are manu accredited ??? ( to my knowledge)

3) All of the CC members or most will , also belong to other trade organisations subscription based.

Image created ?? well its not full of snow flakes ,that is for sure ? u generally get told like it is with no sugar coating

Imo the general disscussion forum serves no useful purpose

There's some very, very knowledgeable posters in there. There's a lot of banter but it is self moderating because there is a distinct lack of prissy snowflakes. It's very rare for the mods to get involved. GD is useful though for when the adverts are on tele. Any way, must dash. Me and ****** have to discuss some secret matters to do with atrocities carried out by murdering me from Hampshire ;)

***** and ****** has told us about the planning of escapades (even if those escapades come to naught) and the gossip that goes on in there.
It is no wonder that when plumbers decide to participate in GD forum they are well versed, well prepared and well indoctrinated by the gossip that has already ensued in the CC forum.

Perhaps, from description of the type of banter that goes on in the CC forum, it is even more extreme than that displayed in GD forum.
The typical "CC forum"" banter is obviously replicated in GD forum by plumbers. Except that they forget that they are now in a general public accessible forum.

We train every Tuesday & Thursday evenings. And have a couple of beers after on the Thursday.

We call it the Thursday night of burning ears
