Yes, and that's gone swimmingly hasn't it. Ten years of wage stagnation and still further downward pressure due to globalisation, despite record spending on overseas aid we have mass migration from Africa causing even more pressure on public services, not to mention the need for security guards at German swimming pools, EU imposed controls on landfill resulting in 'recycling' being exported to third world countries and suddenly we have a crisis where our oceans are full of plastic, coincidence?, co2 targets that veer countries away from truly green energy policies like nuclear when all the while some countries, notably Germany are burning more coal than ever to make up for the energy deficiencies caused by windmills, a single currency with only one beneficiary (Germany), and a common agricultural policy with only one beneficiary (France).
The EU is the driver and indeed driven by globalisation, ironically, it is globalisation that will now punish Germany and France, it's a good time to leave the eu before the brown stuff hits the fan, and it will.
John, you and you're ilk really seem to despise this country and hate the thought of it succeeding away from the eu, that's fine, perhaps you should take your public sector pension and leave, go and live in your beloved eu, a word of advice though, keep some of your savings in Sterling.

So the EU is a large trading bloc with protectionism, and your plan is to leave that and drop tariffs and have no protection, and you said that the problems were caused by globalisation and trade.

You just argued that globalisation has caused these problems and now you want even more of it.

Brexiteers - truly are a mad bunch. Ah well hope your kids will think well of you when their opportunities are cut even further.

Good point Im glad you mentioned it: membership of the EU has been great for the UK economy.

This claim merits proper examination to determine, precisely, how the UK, US, Germany and France have done since 1973, the year in which the UK joined the EU. Per capita GDP of the UK economy grew by 103%, exceeding the 97% growth of the US. Within the EU, the UK edged out Germany (99%) and clobbered France (74%).

The UK’s growth has exceeded the US while tracking it, even since the crisis of 2008. This makes it hard to argue that the EU is dragging the UK down.

Ten years of wage stagnation
Caused by what?

Im sure fillyboy is intelligent enough to search for the underlying causes of wage stagnation in the UK rather than blame Jonny foreigner.........:ROFLMAO:

Have a chomp on this, Old Bean:

Productivity is what pays for pay rises,” said Andy Haldane, the Bank of England’s chief economist, in a recent speech. Both real wage and productivity growth have almost flatlined since the crisis, “something almost unprecedented in the modern era”, he added. The OECD report said “leading firms, at the technological frontier, have enjoyed strong productivity growth similar to that of the pre-crisis period” but that “follower firms have experienced sluggish productivity growth, widening the gap from the top performers”

Hmmm. Your example says Norway are still bound by EU rules and have to allow free movement of people? Well, we're off on a cruise to Norway tomorrow. Stopping in four places. I’ll let you know when I get back whether we felt safe walking the streets and whether there are high concentrations of different races in certain areas but I think it’ll be nice and clean with no foreign beggars pestering us. I’ll listen out for Eastern European accents too - should be the same proportion over there as over here if they have the same access shouldn’t there?
Well, in Stavanger today. Nice and clean - spotless. We were charged 3 NOK deposit on our plastic bottles of water that we purchased which is a good idea. No beggars on the streets, no dross hanging about and no obvious foreigners apart from us off the cruise ships but we were putting money into the economy, didn’t need housing, schooling or handouts and should we have needed medical attention, we were all insured so no cost to Norway. There’s obviously no incentive for the scum of Europe to come here - why can’t the UK be more like that?

Is this Norway? Used to be our twin town. But that's where it ends. They divorced us
Too many scum who chuck their rubbish anywhere.

Norway has free of movement, so EU citizens are free to move to Norway if they want to.

Perhaps we could get UK chavs to move there -as they certainly might qualify as scum of Europe :ROFLMAO:

Norway has higher taxes and lower inequality and actually has a larger public sector - you would call that socialism.

They have huge natural resources which they did no squander and do not rely on labour to increase their GDP or fetish over land and property.

Everything that makes Norway what it is, is everything you vote against. (y)

But do keep voting against your best interests.

Just don't expect quitters to understand that...

They are the part of the UK electorate that is substantially 'thicker' than the large proportion of Norwegians ;)

Thicker no. But inundated with horrible right wing press that has made them reactionary and angry.

I love this country but I don't like how the public gets manipulated by the press which is in the hands of a few billionaires.
