Farmers Fury

EU citizens are mocking UK shoppers by sharing pictures of supermarket shelves filled to the brim with fresh fruit and vegetables as food shortages hit Britain.

Environment Secretary Therese Coffey told farmers "we can't control the weather in Spain" when confronted with the news that supermarkets were limiting sales of fruit and vegetables.
But many online have questioned this explanation after observing that shops elsewhere in Europe did not appear to be experiencing the same problem - and instead believe the problem is a consequence of Brexit.
Even the Scandinavian members of the EU/EEA have no shortages despite having to import a lot of their fresh food...

Why is that?

Oh that's right, they're part of the single market!

Is there anything that's gone wrong since 2016 that wasn't the fault of Brexit, at least according to the remoaners?
Why do those who voted to leave the EU blame absolutely everything that has gone wrong on anything but brexit?

Despite the evidence showing the opposite...

Oh that's right, they are still hearing unicorn voices communicating to their communal brain cell...

Rather reminds us of the Borg in Star Trek ;)

you said: ”Craps always happened for lots of reasons”

So you admit the problems in the UK, pre Brexit we’re not caused by EU membership.

So why have brexers spent decades blaming everything on the EU?
Errr no. Point missed, by about a mile.

You seem to live in some weird parallel universe where being in or out of the EU causes everything that ever happens, good or bad.

My point is that it may be irrelevant. Perhaps we'd have a shortage of one particular non-essential fruit if we'd remained in the EU. Nobody knows, but most people don't actually care about this sort of non-news nonsense.

Most of the apparent shortage is likely to be the result of panic buying by the stupid public in response to the stories themselves.

And at the front of that panic buying queue you'll find very stupid people...

The same very stupid people that voted to leave the EU...

And the same very stupid people who swallowed those brexit lie stories ;)

Think all these remainer enemies within are on a sugar rush today the way they've been triggered.

Au Contraire...

There could there be another panic buying queue of very stupid people that voted to leave the EU looming!

"UK sugar production is expected to be lower than previously expected, British Sugar said on Tuesday (24th Jan 2023)

What sort of numbskull thinks that voting to make trade with our closest neighbours more difficult

Would not impact trade with our closest neighbours?

Are people still doing the tired old debate about whether we're better in or out of the EU?

We had a referendum, perhaps you were asleep at the time. A decision was made. The sky did not fall down as many predicted, good and bad things happen as they always have.

There's absolutely no way of knowing whether being in or out had an effect on this or most other issues. Even if it was the cause, what's the point of getting worked up about it, there isn't going to be another referendum for at least a lifetime so just accept reality and get on with your life. Worry about the things you can control, don't bang your head against a wall over something you can't change.

Just like all those who can't admit it was a mistake...

A huge mistake...

Forget 'banging your head against the wall', brexiteers have their own approach when it comes to acknowledging the bleeding obvious!

All hail the cult of brexit...

A circle of nothingness!

Because people often don't like to admit when they might have been wrong? Note I'm not referring to whether Brexit was/wasn't a good idea, I'm answering your question in a wider sense. It also doesn't help when the resultant vote is close to 50/50.

Exactly the same thing will happen up here if there's a second Scottish independence vote. The result is likely to be close to 50/50. Let's imagine a scenario where leave win and it doesn't go well for Scotland socioeconomically in the years following the referendum. Many of those who voted to remain will blame those who voted to leave, and many of those who voted to leave will say 'the issues are nowt to do with breaking away from the UK' and/or 'you need to give these significant changes a chance to bed in.'

Human nature.

I suspect that if the result had been remain then the leavers would have mostly just quietly shut up about it.

I get the impression that there are a lot of vested interests that encourage and directly contribute to the endless pointless whining about it.
