Imigrants wishing to stay.

Daft thing about this is that the only way to know if somebody had English to equivalent of A level is to test them. And testing isn't free, lessons aren't free. Plus, probably over 99% of Brits would fail if they sat the exam today.

No, he posted a lengthy video where somebody called for that to happen. And he then posted other videos with similar views but which were slightly less extreme. As far as I know, SPLINE himself is calling for anyone who has been in the country for less than thirty years to be deported, even if they are now British citizens.
That'd include my wife. Where do i sign up?

So just to be clear. Anyone wanting to study in the UK or leverage valuable skills to work in the UK, must now speak, read and write English to a reasonable standard.

Exactly how many people will be affected by this? I'm guessing not many.

The devil as-always is in the detail.

The UK already has english language requirements for many Visas, as well as for settlement and citizenship, so what does this announcement mean?

does it mean that the list of accepted tests will be changed?
does it mean that people who have already passed one test will have to take a new course of study and a new test?
does it mean that the list of exemptions will be reduced or eliminated? (in particular there is currently an exception for refugees applying to settle in the UK, and also an exception for people over 65)
does it mean that degree students will be forced to take a government approved test rather than having their english skills assessed by thier university?

Or is it just hot air?
