Is France better than UK?

Just seen a humorous comment elsewhere, so I thought I'd adapt it for here.

Well, France is better at being French, and UK is better at being British.
Both are European countries, while one is good at being European, the other isn't, neither are good at being American.
However, the British do have a film industry that is good at being cowboys. And the French do make good scifi movies.


Make of that what you will.

As I'm being ignored by half of the DIYnot population I don't suppose there'll be much response.

Didn't Jeremy Clarkson do atv show baked something like 50 Million French People Can't Be Wrong.

France looks like a great place to live, but then so do many other places.

I know a few people that have moved to France, some as retirement.

Parts of France, Normandy, Brittany, Charente-Maritime for example have thriving expat communities and its possible to buy a large farmhouse for under £200k.

I wouldn't say it's better, just different.

Parts of France certainly have glorious weather

And last time i promised myself never to set foot in that shytehole again.
I could be holidaying for free as I have family in different parts of france, but no thanks.
