I'm told we can get that from one slab. One of the reasons why I wanted to reduce it from 4m to 3m.At 3m x 1.2 how are you going to construct the worktop.

For the poor cupboards below or the workers installing it?Ouch, that's going to be heavy.
its a Hikvision 4Mp PoE dome camera (ceiling mounted), connects via cat 6 to my NAS server. Its always on, but the server stores based on movement/time of day etc.
You only need around 25mm back box for a standard socket or 35 for flush, the side panel will be 18mm plus a decorative panel is another 18, so you already have the space needed as long as you can fix it securely and chase the cable into a routed slot if necessary.Am I right in thinking that if I'm only having drawers in the island then I won't be able to have sockets at each of the short ends because there is no cavity to install the back box into unlike cupboards?

How do you find the hob works out in the island? Is the breakfast bar a nice place to sit when the pans are simmering, oil splatters etc? I've sort of talked myself out of one for those reasons. Do you tend to do one or the other at the island (prep+socialise vs. actual cooking )?
So no dedicated recording box needed with that (just been looking at packages on ebay)- is the in-camera software good enough to start recording/taking stills when motion is detected, and just dump them on a file/ftp server? Is the lens angle adjustable?
No I use synology surveillance station which comes with the nas. We have 2 NAS boxes so 2 cams on each avoids extra licenses.
