Is this a case of needless PC?

The headline is:
"White men only? Brexit case and legal diversity"

and begins with:
"With the government's battle over Article 50 going to the Supreme Court, there has been much comment about the gender and ethnic make-up of the judges and barristers at work. How accurate a reflection is it of the legal profession's make-up?"

Has there?

Anyway, the author then goes on to explain how the judges of the Supreme Court actually represent exactly the proportion of women and ethnic minorities of those eligible - allowing for the fact that "youngsters" are not going to be considered.

Do please give us an example of something you want to do, that you think you can't because of what you call Political Correctness.
What do you consider Political Correctness to mean? For example, is it 'PC' to ban sombreros for being "discriminatory or stereotypical imagery"? And if not, what would you call a policy like that?

The Guardian is a particular treasure trove of race baiting (but it's OK because it's anti-white). I particularly liked this learned piece about how votes on Strictly Come Dancing are displaying racial prejudice:

In the ultimate irony, the 2016 was annouced three days later and was... Ore Oduba.

make it a criminal offence to accuse people of racism because they question the U.K's imigration policy

complete freedom of speech as well ( well almost complete) which may contradict the above but who cares

legalise prostitution & brothels

legalise all drugs the same rules as applies to alchohol

:)

I'm puzzled that you think the right-wing press is a bastion of political correctness.

Surely you know that cannabis in particular, any time it is looked at scientifically, is found to be less damaging than cigarettes, and even clean heroin is less addictive and less fatal than whisky, but the Tory heartland and the oldster papers won't accept it.

I don't know what you mean by complete freedom of speech. Do you mean you want to be able to call people ***** and spazzers without people saying that you are offensive? Or use abusive terms for people of different religion or colour and shout abuse at them in the street, without people disagreeing and criticising you? or are you under the impression that you can be sent to prison just for being a foul-mouthed, insulting vulva?

It's just another example John, of the ******* desperately trying to find truths that don't exist. Perpetuated of course, by their even more retarded favourite reads. They are not called the RWR for nuffink.
Is there a stronger word than gullible?

No, certainly not. Speech has social consequences. But where PC attacks free speech is when it makes it a crimial offense to say things, and I don't mean just outright threats and incitement.* It's one thing to deny the holocaust or shout racist abuse in the street and promptly get into a slanging match with passers by (which you can do in America thanks to the first ammendment), but quite another to be criminalised for it. Many crimes now carry an automatic heavier sentence if they are deemed -subjectively!- to be 'racially motivated', or whatever. In some European countires it is a criminal offense to deny crimes against humanity (which is another reason I want to get out of the EU, because it is slowly trying to introduce similar laws at the EU level.) You can be arrested for refusing to bake a cake for a gay marriage. Wolf whistling is made a hate crime. The PC culture has infected LWRs to the point where, at the soft end of the scale, they demand 'no platforming' and, instead of simply ignoring them, authorities and institutions actually comply! PC culture is censorship, plain and simple. Yes it's a spectrum from the innocuous to the dangerously authoritarian, but to avoid sliding towards the latter RWRs must also resist the former, too.

*Curiously one-sided, this: You see people tweet "kill all white men" on Twitter all the time, and nothing happens, whereas others have been arrested for Tweeting bad-taste jokes and stupidity!
