Well wanting to learn more about plumbing (I am a spark) I bought some 15mm copper and a few end feed fittings and found an old torch in the garage and had a go... First attempt at soldering, this took me 45 mins to do, and after I put it in a bucket of water and had compressed air fed into it to check for pin hole leaks, not one! :D One of the ends is bodged to seal it as I ran out of end caps!

I was quite happy with the end result...

What do ya think?!?

Have a putty medal  . Now find some grade D solder, Tallow , smudge, moleskin etc .

You know, I've never understood why end fed, or solder ring elbows, aren't a true 90 degrees...rather a little less. Maybe someone can enlighten me?
John :)

Did you feed the solder into the joints with the flame on or off the joint...most of the U tube clips are wrong  Seen plenty of joints that look ok but fail because of poor technique.

I heated the joint until the solder would just start to melt, gave it another 2 seconds or so and then fed the solder in without heat, if it needed a bit more solder but it had cooled to much I gently heated at the same time for a second or so. Is that the correct technique? Are you saying that although a joint seems good afterwards, they may still fail a little while after?

Thanks for your positive responses guys! Appreciated! :D

Hats off to ya dawg for just havin a crack at it

Most people use the yellow pages and get some geezer who has previously been seen on rouge traders

What is the full list of kit you have for this, curious because I too would one day like to do this stuff

That's because most rooms don't have perfect 90 degree corners
