With respect HB, are you retired and living away from a centre of population? If you are, it must be bliss, but for most people, especially the working population and in schools panic and fear are on the inrease again. The fear industry is gearing up to make it a bumper Christmas for Amazon, for Pfizer, for corrupt politicians and union officials everywhere, and, of course, for those "able to work from home".

Notch has seen no change whatsoever in recent days because he never stopped panicking anyway; it's normality to him.

JP you are correct that the papers are instrumental in spreading fear (it sells!) but don't forget the BBC, a major player in the new totalitarianism.

Best thing you can do is turn the tv off or start watching netflix or amazon. Forget bbc , including radio , ch5 ,itv etc. Put the newspaper down and delete your news app. The propaganda over the last 2 years has to be the worst thing the world has been subjected to since ww2.
Far and away more destructive than any virus.
It’s absolutely soul destroying and if everybody on this forum sat in a dark quiet room for an hour to reflect and look inside themselves they’d all realise the mental and physical impact it’s had on their being.

There was a suggestion that they were all tested daily for covid, thus making taking covid into the house unlikely, which excused the masks, or made them optional.

and taking a precautionary approach is not panicking it is sensible, did you not know that acting fast and early means less restrictions later on....and if Omicron is no problem, easy we just end face mask mandates, its no big deal

The corona virus restrictions, etc and over-hyped reporting of them are not totalitarianism - what the Tories have been doing in Parliament recently with the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill is a lot closer. Yet nobody wants to discuss that

It depends what masks we are talking about.
Around the time of MERS and SARS a larger mask study was done and they found that FRSMs are not very good at protecting either side - wearer or opposite.
FFP2s give protection for the wearer in the mid 90% region and FFP3s protect the wearer up to 99%.

Germany and Austria have been demanding FFP2 masks since last year and yet their numbers have been going up massively from an incidence of 6 / 100000 in the summer to about UK levels.

So the statement that masks work has to be seen a little more differentiated.
The masks that most people in the UK wear, are FRSM mask stile and do not do much.

DOI - I have been vaccinated 2x and awating a 3.
I will wear a mask in public when forced.
