Why? Because of those selfish, cowardly ******s who refuse the jab. They really should be warned that they if they refuse the jab, the NHS have the right to triage them to a lower priority when, not if, lifesaving treatment is required.

It isn't really. They'll be the ones dying, mostly, but enough young people will end up in hospital to stuff the NHS up.

Also Cowardly isn't the right word. Stupid covers it much better.

You are off your rocker.

The people who are being infected by this Indian variant were the younger population, those who had not been offered the jab or those who would be offered an alternative jab as the AZ risk profile meant the risks of complications was greater than the risk of being infected - the Indian variant has flipped this riks profile and is why now the risk from complications is less than the risk of being infected - ergo the people lining up to get vaccinated. Now the Indian variant has spread to older people - it suggests transmissions within households.

However getting vaccinated now doesnt provide instant immunity. Bojo left India off the red list way longer than he should have and bears full responsibility for that and all the resultanr problems - stop blaiming people who were doing exactly what they were told to do.

People need time to plan. The roadmap was a good plan, it also meant the govt. could assess the trial easing as in many places people pretty much stopped with the lockdown rules. if you look at infection rates in Bolton, its rocketing and its mainly under 50s, who've only just had the chance to get vaccinated. I think we will get on top of it as long as its not able to doge vaccine antibodies. My worry is once Bolton/india variant gets replicated in mainland Europe it will change the game significantly. Vaccine rates are still very low in countries like France.

'Course, announcing that date months ago wasn't a stupid move, was it!

Their crystal ball works no better than your own does. They were between a rock and a hard place, with businesses wanting to know when things might be eased, to be able to plan for their future.

mottie regularly is...

Maybe if anyone who takes the jab because they are too cowardly to question it gets ill, they should be refused treatment?

Wouldn't want them 'clogging up' the NHS would we

Then this...

"This is the roadmap to full, irreversible and final lifting of restrictions."

Show the list, no dates.

"Stage One is planned for xyz date."

"We will publish Stage 2's implementation date when the effects of the Stage 1 easing have been evaluated."

"We believe that publishing a wishlist of dates MIGHT raise expectations beyond which we in Government would consider safe to proceed with. Hence the caution."

... might have been wiser?

Get Dates Done.

We can plaster the dates on the front page. By fudging our response we got the date done.

It works!

Try to remain calm. The Indian mutation has only just been introduced. No one knows if the vaccine has any effect on it. You're jabbed so nothing to fear.
