Scottish independence

All true; but looking ahead a few years after the Queen is dead - Long Live the King! - but will Scotland be so fond of King George VII, as Charlie intends to be known, or his son, King William V ?
The potential for a referendum on whether or not to keep the monarchy will be as divided as in Australia, no?

It's a different question and irrelevant to the right of a nation to choose independence.

Look! A squirrel!

One of the claims against independence is fiscal policy. In order to be truly independent they would need their own along with their own currency. For that Westminster would not allow it to be related to the GBP. LOL It wouldn't be GB then.

There is this aspect as well :) The headings haven't copied well. Slide them across to line up.

Essentially the devolved get more spent on them per head than the English get, This gives the devolved gov extra money that can be spent in some areas. They choose how to spend it.

There is another area as well. EU structural funding - how what came back was spent

That budget is continuing now we are out of the EU. The gov will maintain the expenditure. The EU set these budgets for some period. Not sure when the current one ends. It's another unequal proportioning of the tax take.

Just under 50% of Scots voted SNP in the 2021 election. So not the majority of, regardless of what the SNP would have people believe. Yes, they are obviously and by far receiving the largest % vote, however not everyone votes for them.

I don't think a straight majority is particularly relevant. If enough voters give pro-leave parties control of the parliament, then by definition they have a mandate to pursue ways of leaving the UK.

Democracy is when you have a vote on a particular subject and the side with the majority of the vote wins. Like what happened in Scotland in 2014 and with Brexit in 2016.

Every time the pro-leave parties are voted in, they are given a fresh mandate. That's democracy too.

If the voters don't want the SNP to pursue their main goal, then they are going to vote for other parties or stay at home, right?

If the voters don't want the SNP to pursue their main goal
If the snPee achieve their main goal, it will be the end of the the land of milk and honey for all the face painters and spoon burners that vote for them.

Could be. But now appears to be the ideal time to provide cover for any pain caused by poor political decisions

With such wafer thin margins across the country it's astonishing the SNP wish to inflict another vote on the Scottish people.
The only time in the past 5 years the SNP have come close to gaining over 50% of the vote in an election was 2015 and on that basis another referendum is not only foolish but downright dangerous to her chances of surviving another leadership challenge.
A big risk on her part, i'd say.

Yeh a risk, but 1) a 1 vote majority is a win. Out means out.
2) The next Scots election probably gives them a fresh mandate to try something else.

Nicoliar said; a vote for snpee is not a vote for independunce, the next day she said; I have a clear mandate.
Her pants are on fire.

Yeah but the most important question right now is....wtf is a 'spoon burner'?
