The first German was vaccinated for Covid on Sunday

I'm a pragmatist at heart.

Foreigner hating Notters are trumpeting the UK's race to be the first European nation to vaccinate - trés noble. However, it will be those who are last to finish that will make the most difference. The UK is full of gullible populist idiots and flat earth right wing nut jobs, that will jeopardise our efforts to rid the UK of Covid.

What is a "Notter"? Is it a new Brexiteer lable or RW nickname? Also, another genuine question (not sniping), what do you mean about those who are last to finish making the most difference?

Im not sure how the UK using a German developed vaccine manufactured in Belgium is a win for the UK

Any more so than any other country though?
We have an overtly dishonest PM, a press willing to back him all the way and a very gullible population. The Gerries would probably win the race even if we had a year head start.

Lying and misinformation is the staple of the right wing r****d. The UK wing are hungry for it.

The industrious and super efficient Gerries will probably beat us to the finish line.
Like how certain people were lauding their Covid response earlier in the year like it was the best thing since sliced bratwurst... and Oh look at them now!

They might get to the finish line first, but it will be by going backwards around the track.

I remember those on here slating Boris when we didn't join the EU PPE procurement scheme, that ended well didn't it? with Italy begging Russia for PPE and France hijacking British Lorries.
Anyway, looks like the jerries might be starting to break ranks, nothing like a bit of unity is there.

Germany Looks Beyond EU Deal to Secure Covid Vaccine Doses - Bloomberg

Germany is conducting direct negotiations with domestic Covid-19 vaccine developers to obtain more doses than would be allocated through the shared European Union plan, Health Minister Jens Spahn said.
The country is in talks with BioNTech SE, Pfizer Inc.’s partner on the first vaccine approved in a Western country against the virus, as well as CureVac NV and IDT Biologika GmbH, Spahn said Wednesday. All three German companies received funding through a government program to support Covid vaccine development.

The 27-member EU has slipped behind the U.K. -- and most likely the U.S. -- on its timeline for vaccine approval. Britain’s regulator signed off Wednesday on the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, while the U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisers will consider emergency authorization for the inoculation Dec. 10. European authorities have given themselves until Dec. 29 to review the application.

“We can’t be prohibited forever from buying additional vaccine doses on our own,” he said.
