It goes without saying that workshy scroungers should be made to work. But anyone who does work should be paid properly for it, not forced to compete with a workforce that's been brought in to work for buttons.
Okay, so how do you go about making sure someone is paid properly, as you put it?
How about a minimum wage.
If the minimum wage rises the taxpayer then pays out less in tax credits.
You still haven't answered my question. We do have a minimum wage. Okay, so let's increase that. Then the strawberry farmer cannot sell his produce. So he no longer employs pickers. So there are now no jobs. Well, okay, so the work shy can now legitimately claim they cannot find work.
Basically wasters have to get off their fat backsides, get work, get trained, and contribute.
I would start by not importing cheap foreign labour to skew the national labour market against the national population and then let wages find their natural level.
If there is a demand the strawberry farmer will sell his gear, if there isn't, no more strawberry's.
And yes, if wages were at a reasonable level, people would be more able to afford luxury items, like strawberry's.
btw whatever did we do for strawberries before we started importing all the low wage foreigners?
