They need us more than we need them......

The Belfast agreement happened because the IRA was a spent force and it finally dawned on them that they could not achieve their aims by force.
The real credit for peace in N. I. lies with the security forces, they rolled the IRA up like a tube of toothpaste.
Blair claimed credit along with Clinton and the EU for the IRA giving up violence, the truth was McGuiness and co. were desperately looking for away out when along came Blair and saved their skins.

If the IRA have given up Violence why has Bombings/Shootings in Northern Ireland increased in the last few months of the Brexit Build Up ?

I seem to recall this IRA / Irish issue seemed to suddenly get bumped to the top of the agenda after 9/11

when bush started looking at terrorist organisations around the world ;)

and the IRA ? Republicans were getting finacila support from Noraid or who ever in the states who had some romantic notion of the IRA fighting for freedom and democracy ????

Then again u had buffoons Corbyn , Mcdonnel & livingstone talking to the IRA for years , perhaps they sorted it :sneaky::sneaky:

The core demands of the IRA were a British withdrawal and the unification of Ireland, they failed to achieve both these objectives.
So why did the IRA give up violence? did their conscience finally get to them or was it because they were operationally incapable of carrying out any sort of sustained campaign of terrorism.
Blair threw the IRA a lifeline in order to secure his own legacy as the man who solved the Irish problem.

On Question Time last week Panellist Bonnie Greer made a good point regarding the Irish Border, saying if we want to have good relations with the USA do not mess with the Irish Border many American Irish support an independant Ireland .

The Con papers put a lot of effort into persuading their readers not to vote Labour.

waste of effort.

If they weren't scared of Corbyn they wouldn't bother attacking him.

Tranny is petrified.

You are backtracking now.

Do you actually have any evidence that the IRA were desperate to give up violence
