Todays Job

its the helicopter one - I sometimes strugglr with names and just know the Avatars - when someone changes that they can become a new person
Most people know him through him having a hunch on his back, thats why eeryone calls him Notredam.

convert these into DXFs
make one to cut out the body, then a one with multiple lines to cut out the recess

then burn them out, I have used teak hear that I have cut to 3mm thick

the recess is cut out marginally smaller to get a tight fit

then use a router to get as close to the edge as I dare and just under 3mm deep
xDYbs12.jpg

then finish off with a sharp chisel - the laser has created a very definite edge to chisel up to
xDYbs13.jpg

then whack it in and hope for the best,

finish off with a scraper

As simple as that

Slick, very slick. Out of boredom I've recently built a couple of wooden ships from kits and the frames for the hull and keel were all laser cut, great technology'

not that long ago I cut out some keel stuff for someone making a wooden ship from a kit, some bits were damaged and I recreated them out of hardwood

Amazing things these laser cutters, take a lot of setting up but incredibly accurate, better better than 0.1mm, may be 50 microns

Absolutely amazing is all I can say. It looks stunning and I can see a cottage industry set up making these. Hand made bog seats for celebrity's.
