I often think if I win big on the lottery, my priority would be buying a place where I could be relatively isolated from anyone, bar those few people I'd still be happy enough to see.

Move to rural France. You can get a do-er upper miles from everyone for £70,000 or less. Double that budget all you'll get something you can move into straight away with several acres to act as a good buffer zone between you and any undesirables. Lots of places (mainly big cities) in France are us fcked as UK - but like US it's so big it's very easy to escape the madding crowd.
