Who will win and by how many?

A friend who is a longterm Tory voter posted this today, which I think sums up how many people (not all, obviously, so no need to say you feel differently) feel:

(copy&pasting!)
Today I shall be voting Labour for the first (and quite possibly only) time in my life. I strongly disagree with a LOT of their policies, I'm lucky enough that I'd be personally affected by their tax proposals, I don't care much for Corbyn and I also don't think they have a strong leadership.
Despite all that, they're getting my vote today. Not an easy decision, so why?
This election was not needed. It was only called so that the hard right Tory leadership could get rid of MPs who were voting with their conscience rather than doing what they're told. Johnson's extreme Tory party needs an overwhelmingly majority to push through their vision of a segregated, isolated Britain where the masses support their millionaire donors. They're prepared to do anything to get that: including breaking up the union, breaking the law and wrecking British democracy. What they are trying to do might never be undone again.
That is not the party I have voted for in the past. They're probably going to win, but every single vote against them is a voice that we won't accept what they're doing.
Don't be silent

Its how I feel. The current set are RW ideologue who have hoodwinked so many.

I would like a return to small C conservatism, aspirational and helpful to the less well off and expanding the middle class.

Your friend sounds like one of those undercover devout remainers between the lines.

Cummings spends his time doing all possible scenarios.
They knew from day 1 brexit could not be achieved by honest parliamentary means.

They obviously guessed that to get a hard brexit would need a purge of moderate Tories, so kicking them out would have been planned early on.

Campaigning for a hard brexit has been necessary to kill off the brexit party.

All of this is political games, it doesnt solve the real problem: brexit cant be delivered, as sold.

It boils down to this. A hard brexit allows them to sign a trade deal making the UK a vassal state. In return they get some nice jobs as advisers. The country will limp along.

Sad end to an empire.

Perhaps in keeping with the tradition (and is some cases law) we should not discuss polls on Election Day until 10pm

I don't think the papers or anybody on social media respect that rule these days. And whilst we are know how amazing we are here, I doubt many people outside of the DIYNot walls realise that this is the beating heart of British political debate. Talk on!

Watching sky showing Jimmy cranky etc going in to vote really what's the point of them voting at all let along showing coverage of it.

That would not be wise. I know it's different, but we have a lib dum council, and they will take the money from you via tax or other stealth measures just like labour, but unlike labour, you won't see a return with lib dums.
Indeed i hear you. Problem is Tories are affecting alot of people i know in a equally detrimental way with their policies too, i'm not sure who they serve either. I do know Labour will affect us all worse of all, i love the idea of re-nationalising our services etc but i don't see them strong enough.

I just dont know how it could be done.

Could Jeremy just ring up one if the train operators and say: 'I know you won the franchise to run the Bluebell line, but the thing is we kind of need it back, could you be a doll and just hand it back to us. Oh and could you give us a few tips on how to run a railway, we dont have got a clue'.

Does a council give an insight into how a national government would run?

Im not saying it doesnt, I dont know. If it does, well some Tory councils have gone bust.

No. He'll just say "I am seizing this railway on behalf of the state". He'll then put one of his comrades in charge on a couple of million quid a year and try to get the trains running at least a couple of days a week to show what a good job he's doing. Ditto the utility companies.

Went to the polling station earlier...

P*ssing down, but there was a queue...

More younger faces than usual...

And let's hope the bad weather deters those with rheumatic limbs!
