Youth unemployment at an all time high.

Is youth unemployment a consequence of immigration?

  • Yes. It's pretty obvious. They are taking all the jobs.

  • No. It would be just the same if the Poles hadn't arrived.

I hear you Joe, but as far as hotel staff goes and "pre-trained" how much training does it take to point a guest in the right direction and be slightly polite in the process.
And it can't be because he immigrant workers are more polite, as the girl (and I say girl, couldn't be much over 17) was extremely stone faced and surly when anyone asked a question.
Don't get me started on the guy in the restaurant, I had to ask 3 times what the main courses were and then eventually just went and had a look for myself.

Fancy blaming the younsters themselves for being unemployed. Many of them submit job application after job application, and dont even get a thank you, kiss my anus etc, from companies who they apply too.

My daughter has a job in a boutique restaurant. When she got the job half the staff were Poles - now she is the only Brit. It's time that the British people stood up for their kids and said ENOUGH. British people spend their pay in the UK whereas Poles send it to Poland. How can that help our economy? Mental.

As if not to exacerbate the issue, just returned from a wee jolly down my golf club to find that.... the new bar person (see my PCness there) is a young polish lady not but 19 years of age.

well guys... sometimes foreigners are more educated and willing to work than british people.

Yep and the cost has nothing to do with it?
Lets pay a british worker £5 ph or lets pay a foreigner £3 ph for the same work... hmmmm

It's a no brainer.
Johnny foreigner wins. Many small businesses and factories would be burst without foreign labour.
Basically if you can't take your business to a foreign country (which makes sense) to make use of cheap competitive labour then ship the foreign workers here.
Simples.

what a load of codswallop.....minimum wage applies to immigrants too....whether or not a pole will work for 3 quid instead of 5 is besides the point....

I have Polish family who are here and have many polish friends due to this...not one earns money here and spends it in poland....

is anybody suprised at the poles coming here after years and years or soviet oppression caused by the British and the USA?

My wife works here, has been here for many years and pays taxes like you and i, and still the scutters of society choose to stay at home moaning and taking benefits which have come from yours, mine and my Polish wifes tax money.

Cause and effect...not sure it's that simple !! and besides, we're talking about everyday Joe, who has no say in whether the US and the UK invade Bolsovonia !!! I've not had a referendum in about 50 years so how can you blame me for you coming here !??

Does immigration of millions of Poles and the like make any difference?

I nipped into my local bank today, and there were a couple of Polaks in the queue in front of me. Went into Co-op, couple more Polaks in the queue in front of me.

I should imagine it's the same thing for our young job-seekers - foreigners ahead of them in the job queue.

Polskis in the bank/supermarket queue is inconvenient for me. In the jobs queue, I should imagine that it's bloody disasterous for school leavers and graduates. Another example of how the politicians have sold our future generations down the river.

where they assumptions on you part or do you speak polish???

I think you misunderstand...im not polish or an immigrant.

If the poles can get a job how come the british cant?? at my works, they are always looking for agency staff and i think the ratio of english to Poles/other immigrants who actually apply is about 5 english to 100 immigrants. Most english folk who get a job in the factory i have spoken to say they hate it, its boring and not worth getting out of bed for. They usually last about 2-3 weeks and then dont bother showing in again leaving another space open for a polish or similar to get the job. Most of the immigrants stick it out and eventually end up getting the permanent jobs. There is no reason why it couldnt happen to an english person if they just stuck it out and got on with it.

Why are we only speaking about Poles here. In my post about 3 or 5 quid I said FOREIGNER. I did not denote a specific nationality.
I know of one such case where the young lad is Romanian and he's getting £3.75 per hour cleaning and is just happy to have to work - he's not going to make a noise about the shortfall in fear of losing said job.
