How civilised are we now? Moaning about having to wait longer at the doctors, or sit in more traffic whilst humans are dying fleeing war zones we as a nation created.
As a former soldier, I don't recognise the the people I served abroad anymore, judging by the posts on this forum.
The things you mention are what makes us civilised, like the health service for instance. When you see some of these less civilised Countries it is obvious how unimportant life and compassion towards fellow man is. That is how this Country will be within a few years.
I don't think anyone on here would begrudge a few thousand desperate families living here (me included) but then where do they live, where do they work, who pays for it and for how long? Can we rely on the system to weedle out the ones who are not genuine, perhaps terrorists? Once they are here it is too late. Once the UK is full up from the result of this conflict and the next and the next, we will not be able to support ourselves let alone anyone else. Where does our charity end? I know where it should start.
I am sorry to say this because I always back our soldiers in whatever conflict they are thrown into; but if a soldier doesn't put the Country he serves first, then maybe he or she is in the wrong job.
