How can presumably intelligent? people in the 21st century actually think like this or believe the absolute unadulterated nonsense which says they must do this.

Exactly, & if we expect them to adopt our customs & traditions when they come to our country then we should respect theirs in their countries. Why holiday in a glorified prison just so you can get ****ed, if you want to drink then go where it is a usual occurance, go to Egypt , Morroco etc etc for the culture & history.
