Is it possible that cost-saving measures, like decimating the police and border agencies, could have any effect?

As I posted initially......

If the border services have been decimated ( and you are implying therefore unable to do an effective job), they are always (in my personal experience) resourced enough to have me and my fellow travellers queue as long as they deem necessary.
And have our passports checked without rush.
I repeat, me and mine have never been waved through.

I guessed it was something to do with France 2016, which the border agent confirmed.

Even though I was going to the Canaries, with the family.

When I spoke with the border agents, I was told that I fitted the profile!
They said that hooligans will often take circuitous routes, to try and avoid detection.

Perhaps you missed the point of my post entirely? Two similarly nasty men, but no shortage of police to monitor the non-terrorist one.

So next time, before you form opinions and post supposed opinions, you ought to do some research on your source!

A few years ago, I was also questioned, although not searched. It prompted me to inquire, via a FoI request form the Border agencies, in order to understand why.
My cheque was returned un-cashed with an explanation that no travel records are kept on UK citizens, i.e. they had no information to disclose, and the questioning was a purely random event.

I think the cuts to the Police, NHS, Education, Army? are totally uncalled for and disgusting. There should be an end to school Academies and privatisation of the NHS. The Police have a difficult job to do and cutting their numbers helps no one.

I went through many border crossings prior to Schengen in Europe. All border guards had guns. They did not point them at me, but they had them by their side!

they checked my ID and said no you are not him , we have stopped the wrong bloke again , apologised and went on there way.

Before they went I asked em what has happened apparently some bloke allegedly pinched a washing machine & was seen pushing it down the road in a wheel barrow we know who it is they said and we will catch up with him again I said I hope you do and went on my way.

They obviously did not know that you are a habitual and accomplished liar.
Did they ask you for a passport? You said that you did not have one because you are not allowed one, so you showed them your UB40?
