It is all very well admiring the craftsmanship of the artisans who created these works of art but it should be remembered that the money to pay for all this came off the backs the poor gullible peasentry.

yes your right, to mention the poor, that have been deceived, remember in them days they did not have a bible, of there own or scripture, and was not permitted to have one. so they blindly follow the blind.
one way roman catholic church make there dosh, is via purgatory, purgatory is a false doctrine.

So it is called something different in other religions:
Although denying the existence of purgatory as formulated in Roman Catholic doctrine, the Anglican and Methodist traditions along with Eastern Orthodoxy, affirm the existence of an intermediate state, Hades, and thus pray for the dead.
Judaism also believes in the possibility of after-death purification and may even use the word "purgatory" to present its understanding of the meaning of Gehenna

What is in a name?

Or is it your position that you claim that the Anglican and Methodist churches, and Judaism have also been exposed as false churches in the Bible?

And how does the Roman Catholic church, or any of the others mentioned, profit by the recognition of 'purgatory'?

I don't think he was claiming that the Roman church is mentioned in the Bible as such, he could mean that if you study the Bible you will see that the the teachings and laws of the Roman church are false.
I could be wrong of course.

yes, a lot of there teachings, and laws and traditions, are not in scripture. a description of a church is mentioned in revelations, that if you piece it together, has similaritys of the roman catholic church.

its not about names ,its about what is the truth, and what is the simple message of the gospel.

they say the more you give to the church, the less chance of spending time in purgatory or there friends who have passed spend in purgatory.

the bible does not say anything about after life punishment cleansing of the soul in respect to sin. then taken to heaven.

Jesus took our punishment for sin, all of it, there is no punishment for sin for those who believe in him and receive his salvation.

what is the simple message of the gospel.

since the bible does not mention the catholic church or condemn it, you are obviously applying your own bias and prejudice before you decide which bits are true.

Do you observe Leviticus? Of course not.

Whilst watching a documentary recently, I learned that Hasidic jews aren't allowed to fart whilst wearing a hat. What a fantastic religion! I'm surprised more people haven't joined that one.
Hence the phrase "drop your hat "

its not prejudice, or bias, its exposing what is true, and what is not true, the bible does not specifically say in letters, roman catholic church, but it does expose it by its doctrine and practices.

I've never understood why religion has been the cause of so many wars over the centuries.

I heard the reserection was a term Jesus used when he made love to his woman for a second time on the same day.
