The beginning of the end?

Im not actually sure if there is any scientific evidence how long immunity lasts.
I think that would be based on previous virus infections and knowledge thus gained. The alternative, assuming that a vaccine is not forthcoming would be social distancing and a permanent closure of pubs/cinemas/social venues. The effect on our lives and our economy would be profound.
I would not like to be burdened by being on the SAGE committee right now but whatever decision they make will be right by some and wrong by others.
I do think the under 40's return to normal would probably be popular with a great many Labour voters though given they types of industry that would be able to return to normal operations and the age groups likely to be employed by them.

then point out where

Or maybe you can explain why you consider that his qualifications and experience do not qualify him to pass the opinion that he has. I'm still waiting for JohnD to share with us his qualifications and experience that outrank the doctor. Perhaps you'd like to provide us with yours too.

He's forgotten more about medicine and disease, viruses included, than you'll ever glean from the pages of the Graun. He doesn't need to be an epidemiologist or a virologist to express a far more informed opinion than your uninformed opinion.

So care to share what makes you better informed to comment? Qualifications? Experience? You read a book one time?

I'll add that to the ever-lengthening list of clichés you and your buddies like to trot out when you've nothing constructive to add.
It's not a cliche, it's a fallacy. It is a constructive contribution to a discussion, but I understand you prefer to just call people names.

For Covid - 19?

"Coronavirus-infected patients also ‘don’t seem as sick, on average, as they were’ says trust chief executive."

He added there could be signs the virus may be weakening, although cautioning patient numbers were so small it could be a “coincidence”.

Fingers crossed....
Interesting article and I hope he's right.

However I think the answer to the reduced cases is simple. Apart from all the social distancing we have been doing, with the vulnerable doing the most. We are now in the middle of summer (nights start closing in tomorrow, now that's a depressing thought!) And as we all know Flu like viruses (which covid has many similarities) really does struggle to spread at this time of year. Sadly come the back end of the year when we have started to let our guard down, the sun is low in the sky and there is a distinctive chill in the air, just like the terminator - covid will be back.
