As things and flights are starting to open up, have you anything still booked or are going to book as a break for this year? We booked all our holidays in Jan/Feb well before lockdown. Mrs Mottie had a break with her mates to Spain in June cancelled and that was a postponed one from last September because of storms and flooding plus we had our anniversary break in July in Barcelona cancelled. I still, have a fly/ride motorcycling trip booked with 4 mates in Spain in October, a two family holiday to celebrate DIL's 30th birthday at Center Parcs in November and a New year break in the Peak District starting Dec 28th in a house with Mrs Mottie and 8 friends. I’d be surprised if we get to go on any of 'em, especially if we have a second wave. I wish I’d had booked something in this country for August but probably no chance now and in any case, booking in advance might be a bad move unless it’s booked the day before! Might as well basically write this year off holiday wise. Should be going on a big one next year though if things calm down.

What about your holiday plans? Still hopeful or given up?

Good grief, looking at all your holidays! Not had a holiday in years and years myself and even if it was high on my agenda, I don't think I'd go anywhere for some time.

My neighbours have just gone, they'd booked a private villa in Spain for 5 people (7k it cost!!) and they didn't find out if the holiday was still on until 2 days before they were due to leave. Then a day before their flights were cancelled and they had to get tickets with another airline. That same day they were also told their villa was no longer available but another one was. They still made it but to be honest, they'd need a holiday after that stress!

Got nothing. Last holiday I had was a week in Cornwall in 2017, and last before that was a week in he same place in 2016. Not left the country in 10 years - I think I went to Dublin or Zurich once after having kids.

This year's holiday will be in my garden, with my tomato plants and swimming pool. Although I'll probably be trying to finish the guest room most of the time!

We were thinking of living it up in Cyprus for a week or two in August while the kids were off and weirdly a couple of weeks ago when we were hovering over the book tab the prices were less than would have been ordinarily (which is the only reason we were seriously considering it) but atm you need to get a Corona test done no later than three days beforehand and have the results at hand at the airport when you arrive and it's not clear exactly what test result they'll accept so it was all too much of a gamble for us and probably everyone else who was hovering hence the lower prices. Heyho probably should spend the money on the house instead anyway.

We spent last week cycling Kent coast near Whitstable,(premier inn) then New forest b &b Brockenhurst, eating out,Restaurants doing there best to social distance whilst almost throwing your meal onto the table, social distancing/one way for coffee, ice cream etc,,all ok whilst weather is sensible etc...not sure I would fancy all the carry on of airports, might try ferry to Amsterdam with bike, pedal to Germany with tent....Alone in case it goes wrong!!..

Gosh that leaves you reliant on the test lab o_O
Yep, hence the giving up the dream! There's no guarantee you'll get a result back in the time frame and no guarantee that even if you do it won't say unclear' or 'inconclusive' which would effectively be read a a positive test. But seeing as you could easily be carrying it and be asymptomatic I could have it right now and not know.

I like the sound of that but for me to go on a biking holiday it’d have to be within 8 miles of my house as that’s as far as I could get!

2 sailing trips to Greece planned, way less than usual. I get 8-12 weeks as part of my boat package. I think I will be 3 or 4 left over end of the year. they've allowed me to trade up which was nice.

Caravan in Barmouth in a couple of weeks. The wife and sprogs are there already doing a recce.

Outlaws have a static near Machynlleth. Very peaceful, I like it. Trouble is, the sprogs don't get too thrilled by the thought of it nowadays:(

So, unless we book a ferry to France and villa, I don't think we'll bother.
