The problem is that BLM has become corrupted by disparate groups, movements, organisations, all having different agendas and approaches to the problem. The central tenet of BLM is good, but not all branches are good, or rational. The unfortunate effect of this is to create hostility in both directions. BLM will have made many people think positively but it will probably have made many more think negatively.

Cops killing black people is a good example. Nobody could argue that this needs to be addressed and stopped, but in order to stop the problem it's necessary to properly understand it. That means understanding how many people are killed by cops - black and white - and under what circumstances, including the psyche of the cop? Problem is, BLM refuse to acknowledge that this might be a cop killing people problem rather than a cop killing blacks problem and just raising the possibility is normally met with the racist label and the conversation immediately being closed down. As long as this attitude continues the problems will also continue.

I very much agree.

BLM campaigners don't seem to realise if they want broad support which means including white people to support them, they need to get white people board.

If their message was more conciliatory they would get further.

I would just like to hear them say "society has changed and we really appreciate racism is not so bad now, however....."

Maybe they think society has not 'changed' substantially if at all.
Racism, like most things is subjective.
What we today would consider outright blatant and disgusting racism, would pass as slight prejudice in the past.
As each successive generation experiences racism, it is just as raw as the massive injustice meted out to slaves in the past.

It is not until racism is eradicated that those who experience racism day in, and day out, will agree that society has changed for the better.
It might appear to the average person that racism is little and infrequent. But to those that experience it on a daily, hourly basis, it is no better than it's ever been.

If you substitute sexism for racism, and compare what was acceptable in the past, with what is blatant sexism today, you get an idea of how things have changed, but only in comparison to what has happened decades ago.

What happened last week, last year, is little different to what is happening today.

George Floyd the unfortunate phenylalanine and cocaine addict with a history of drug dealing, who was passing counterfeit money at the time of arrest and resisting police arrest is being almost canonised as a saint. The unarmed police woman working in an administrative role in a Paris suberb police station who was knifed to death by a man who chanted “allah Akbar “ will soon be forgotten by the media but not by her 2 children. Does her colour matter ?Not a jot it’s irrelevant.

How are the two incidents connected?

Carrying a chair leg in a carrier bag, stopped by firearms police after a report of him having a shotgun & then refusing to put it down when asked by the police. Is that the one you mean?

I remember. Was it on thd Amhurst Rd?

It was a response to your claim that BLM are racist.

Have you heard me say All lives matter... do you understand the definition of the word All?

I wanted you to confirm your comment. You didn't.
Would you like to now?
