Smoking….

Yes, been smoking since I was 14-15

I lit my first fag aged 11.

sadly that is typical.

Since the tobacco industry sends more than half its clients to an early grave, they need to recruit schoolchildren while still young and impressionable, to keep the numbers up.

With the habit being more addictive than heroin, a hooked customer will probably be a source of profit for the rest of his (shortened) life.

People who work in the tobacco and advertising industries have to train themselves that they bear no responsibility. it's no worse than driving a train.

Remember when motor racing and sporting fixtures were sponsored by fags? To give them an air of glamour and sophistication, and to get more people to speak in favour of fags.

And the back cover of girly magazines.

The advertising wasn't to divert established smokers. They already have their favourite brand.

It was to attract kids.

And it worked.

Before I left school, I was a volunteer at a large hospital.

I was quite startled the first time I saw a cluster of smokers standing outside, or in wheelchairs, in dressing gowns having taken off their oxygen masks to feed their fatal habit.

Mostly I smoke in social situations, I'm a bit of a weirdo and struggle socially and use it as a coping mechanism in some situations.

Sounds like I was, when I smoked, but I was much more of a regular smoker. Can I suggest - try swapping to vaping?

I swapped 10 years ago and instantly. Even better I don't have to vape. I thought I was addicted, I wasn't and had no withdrawal. It as you suggest, just something to do with my hands when talking, when on the phone, when on the key board, when stopping to have a think when working - light up.

John player sponsored the Norton racing team

JPS rotary Norton’s

Steve Spray and Trevor Nation

those were the days ;)

My wife used to work for the Rothmans Racing team. Funny thing is, in those days she never smoked but they could have as many as they wanted for free. She never bothered.

The tobacco Co's are bad yes?

Don't see many of you fukkerz buddying up to sue them though !

The most pointless, unnecessary, costly, stinking addiction ever to plague the planet.

"But I like to smoke..."

No you dummy, you are addicted to nicotine. Who on Gods gracious earth actually wants to stink, wants to severely harm their health and cause revulsion to those close to them. Addicts eh.
Very wise words.
