Old Conservatives don't understand

Ah, so you did mean an unsubstantiated rumour by people hoping to score a political point.

James Daly, the Conservative MP for Bury North, has written to Greater Manchester Police to demand an investigation after Ms Rayner appeared to give two different addresses in official documents.

@fillyboy remember the forum rules... if its a Tory, that has been reported to be naughty in the Guardian or the FT, its proven fact. If its a Labourite being reported in a range of news papers, based on her entering data on public documents and then amending that data, its an unsubstantiated rumour..
I'm sure motorbiking is aware that some water companies denied that they were public authorities, in order to avoid fulfilling some of the obligations due, and a court ruled that, for those purposes, those companies were considered public authorities and must comply with those obligations.
You do not need to justify why you agree that water companies are public authorities.

They are therefore a poor example of public vs private industry.

Are all councils run by idiots? That was the claim.
IME they certainly have more than their fair share. See below example. On this high street parking and access is allowed after certain hours. Rather than revoke the parking, which the struggling businesses have objected to, they installed "art".

Res ipsa loquitur.

They are apparently now thinning them out after a backlash. Each unit, must have cost £300-400. and they will need to be disposed of or found new homes, not to mention the cost of transporting them. I don't know how a blind person or a wheelchair user is meant to navigate them.

So why ask what country I'm in then? if you agree that they are public authorities and are therefore not a good example of private vs public sector performance.
Of course they are a good example.

It is only public authorities and public sector services that govt and councils contract out….so it’s those we need to compare service quality.

I’m sure Sony is a very efficiently run private company, but councils are never going to make TVs, so pointless comparing them

Let these businesses struggle and die. Why should anyone owe them a living?

It's all part of the free market. Let them die off so the landlords can repurpose the buildings for different use.

Free Market Rules.

Free Market Forever.

The same way they'd navigate the cars (that would have been parked there, otherwise)?
As said there are parking restrictions during the day and on street parking is only allowed at night. of course the planters are there 24/7 until the council decides where to dump them. if the goal was to stop parking.. there are cheaper ways.

I'm sure you know that in England, water companies are in the private sector, and in Scotland, they are in the public sector.

And so it is possible to compare costs, quality and service to the public between UK water companies that are publicly owned, and those that are privately owned.

But that is a topic for another thread.

And the sight-impaired and less able, only previously went about their way when the cars weren't permitted to park?

Doctors make mistakes.

Res ipsa loquitur.

They are all idiots.
