What car did you pass your driving test in?

my eldest daughter was taught to "pass the test", not a very confident or good driver. The youngest didn't like that approach and went with an instructor who taught "how to drive" she is a very capable/safe driver.
So guess who gives dad a lift and is allowed to drive the scooby-doo.

My instructors dad, an ex-police driver,

My instructor was an ex-police driver then police instructor, and I had a blast learning with him. When the subject has come up in the past, it sounds like most instructors leave out a lot of the important stuff and focus on driving at <30mph and doing 3-point turns.

That is very true, i'm a traffic officer and the amount of basic things you do not learn on your lessons/test is frightening
My instructor was an ex Police Instructor and an ex Military Instructor. It was like sitting next to a bloody Sergeant Major! 'COME ON MAN! YOU COULD HAVE BEEN OUT THERE. WAIT FOR ONE YOU'LL WAIT FOR TWENTY ONE!' That was his favourite saying. Still haunts me today when I'm stuck at a junction... and I passed, ahhemmm 20ish years ago!
He was an old mate of my fathers. My dad was ex Special Forces (SAS) and this guy was ex Black Watch. I think all these Military lot stuck together after the war. I know one thing, he didn't take any shyte off ANYONE. They don't make em like they used to. :(

Did he let you drive at 159 miles an hour to test the car?

Bike Yamaha RD 250 passed 1st time

I genuinely can't remember, I have a feeling it were a Vauxhall Viva, not the boxy one, the one after.

Datsun Cherry. Passed third time.
Full bike test - a 125 somethingorother. Passed first time.

Rover 200 for me, passed second time, all the best drivers do ;)

FFS I can't imagine what would be worse, the 3 attempts or the Datsun Cherry. ;)
Only the third time was in a Cherry.
First time was in my mums Austin 1100. Never even had a lesson - all self taught. Not lying, I had a drink in the pub beforehand and my mum gave me a Valium tablet to "calm my nerves". Oh, and the experienced driver that accompanied me to the test was my mate who at the time, couldn’t even drive a car. I may have smelled of booze and been a bit woozy!
2nd time was in a mini.

Ford Escort estate, passed in the Army. 5 min drive around then back to camp passed with ease.

E reg Renault 5. Was my dad’s car, instructor had a clio, the very first shape. I wore big doc marten boots at the time which were too big for the Clio’s pedals. Passed first time. Did the theory afterwards, weirdly. Think it was the first year the theory came out.

Fork Lift truck - 1st time (I was only 16 and found out afterwards I shouldn't have been allowed to drive one!).
Civvy test - Ford Anglia van (1000cc). Passed 2nd attempt - the examiner I had was notorious for not passing anyone 1st attempt. Same for bike test.
Company test passed first go after a week of 'instruction' - 12 months after passing the civvy test. That allowed me to drive company vans (at the time I was in a 'special group'). I think they had seen too many accidents with people used to driving cars as most new company drivers hadn't had instruction in driving vans. I know I spent a more than an expected amount of time reversing vans into narrow spaces and along country lanes.
