Why do I think of a Bedford CF ?

I expect I passed my driving test in a Morris 1000 because they were around that long ago.

When I was stationed at the BBC Droitwich LF transmitting station there was an emergency MF transmitter mounted in a Bedford truck.

It was all cold war top secret then but I dont think I will be disiplined about it now. We used to test the transmitter, an RCA ET 4336 (?), every month and drive the 1954 truck round the building a couple of times.

It was probably based on this chassis:-

It was so sad. It was finally sold off with less than 2000 miles on the clock!

Similar vehicles were used to mount the famous BBC OB SHF link starter and mid point Eagle Towers. Little information seems to exist now though.

I still wonder what happened to 785R !

2002 Honda Jazz in Oct 2003. I was 17. Very nice car. It was a Doncaster based company with about 6 cars, all Jazz's in different colours. My instructors dad, an ex-police driver, took me for pass plus after my test. I drove to Hull, over the humber bridge, then drove through sheffield city centre, and to barnsley at night. Well worth £135 at the time.

Passed theory and driving 1st time. I had a bet on with my mate, a fiver on whoever passes first. His theory took 3 attempts, driving took 5. He still owes me a fiver!

3 months after passing, I bought a 1989 H reg Nissan Micra  That car was an experience!!!!!

Now driving an 06 Citroen C4. Nice. ;)

Agile a bedford CF was a transit size van, was given one of them at work the day after i passed my test, no nearside mirror very scary!!

My instructors dad, an ex-police driver,

My instructor was an ex-police driver then police instructor, and I had a blast learning with him. When the subject has come up in the past, it sounds like most instructors leave out a lot of the important stuff and focus on driving at <30mph and doing 3-point turns.

That is very true, i'm a traffic officer and the amount of basic things you do not learn on your lessons/test is frightening
