Why do we?

If a law says so, and the classification imposed by the law conflicts with immutable scientific facts then the only resolution is to change the law, not deny the facts.

This would all matter a lot less were it not for the fact that the real issue is how transgender people are treated,

That's NOT the case imho.
The issue is how the 99% are treated.

The 1% deserves respect and dignity the same qualitatively as disabled, very short or tall people or any other unfortunate minority.

The small minorities cannot ask the 99% to see things as they do. The more aggressively they try, the more marginalised they become.
Then, instead of a funny look and everyone's lives moving on, they get told to p off followed by a fist in the face.

I thought the way it was laid out and worded was very clever. Even though I wouldn't make such a joke myself, I did find it extremely funny. Maybe that is hypocritical.

Most things in life are better understood when they are simplified.
If the rule of hand works in 99.9% of cases then always use it, I say.

The reason I have always liked her take is that she strongly supports biological women without being cruel or mocking to trans people. I don't like the way Ricky Gervais does it.

TBH, I only really learnt beyond the headlines myself because of a really good thread we had on here about three months ago.
