Khant argue with that

When all this was coming to a head, nobody within 50 miles of the ULEZ wanted to buy a non compliant vehicle. On the other hand, compliant vehicles within 50 miles of a ULEZ were going for stupid money. You weren’t anywhere near 50 miles of the ULEZ so don’t bother trying to tell me any different.

The UK is only 100 miles across?

No wonder I don't have range anxiety

2013 announced. Last minute apathy eh.

Many (angry gammons) still foolishly beleive the origins of ULEZ is a Khan concept.
2013? I’m talking about the expansion ten years later.

Khans, idea. He admits it. Why are you covering for him?

None of it was kept a secret from Londoners.

ULEZ was Boris Johnsons idea and would have happened in London in one form or another and was talked about for decades.

Perhaps mottie thinks ULEZ was kept a secret from Londoners and that things like the scrappage scheme was only offered to lizards?

ULEZ was Boris Johnsons idea
I’ve said before, nothing wrong with it in actual London but there was no need for it in the outer London suburbs. Purely and simply a cash grab by Khan. Feck all to do with Boris.

The ULEZ expansion, completely khans idea, was announced in November '22 and took place in August '23.

Plenty of time you say? Don’t make me laugh!

ULEZ: Charges and fines raised nine-figure sum in 2022

The money was raised by making daily charges on non-compliant vehicles and issuing penalty notices.

What do you think will happen when not enough non-compliant cars cars are producing the revenue to fund the cameras with enough left over for Khans pet projects? Let’s have a guess - pay by mile charging is my guess. What do you think they’ll do - how will they pay to run the ULEZ camera system then?

Nothing wrong with it in actual London, presumably pre-expansion you say? Then you link to an article describing how it was working in 'actual' London and pulling down lots of money. presumably to moan about it.

The one with the scrappage scheme?

Yes, it was announced to Londoners and in some cases quite generous. 50'000 polluting death traps removed from Londons' roads. As Londoners were largeley aware of existing ULEZ they had ample time and warning to prepare the expansion.

UK tobacco smokers are now taxed to the tune of 82%. (y)
Have you noticed that they say giving up smoking can be as hard as giving up coke. Yet the sods that run this country class coke as illegal, but dont class tobacco as illegal. How about making drugs legal & taxing this cat 82%.

People tend not to be gagging for a scrap after enjoying 20 cancer sticks.

A line or two of the old marching powder though...........

There will be less need for ULEZ. Job done.

It's working, so don't expect your RWR buddy Fromage to scrap it. (y)

Not sure I agree with that. Our oldest car is 10 years old and is ULEZ compliant. Not sure when that standard was brought in but cars are scrapped all the time and replaced with new ones. That would sort the air naturally

It was more for those that said the expansion was nothing to do with Khan.

"Plans for the London-wide expansion - which were not part of Sadiq Khan's mayoral manifesto - were announced in November".

More addicts successfully give up heroin, than fags.
