Yes, but seems that there isn't one reason why, quite a few theories/combination of theories.

Which one are you reading/writing about?
I'm wondering if BAME like being referred to as BAME. One of the good things in my view about America is the term Black American. Little else is. Some are proud to be. Others see it as a distinct disadvantage, rightly so but still use it. It gives them an identity. What about I'm a BAME Brit?
