A house cat cannot kill a baby by attacking it so it would make no sense to kill the cat. A cat can kill involuntarily by going to sleep on the baby's face, but that also would not be a reason to kill the cat.

A cat could claw a baby, god forbid in the eyes.
Cats also harbour nasty diseases, and even an affectionate cat could do a baby serious harm.

Meaning the cat kept his eyes open all the time it was kinda expected from the vet
