census.

Nothing is completely black and white, and I can see both sides of the argument here although, generally, I agree with Chapeau here.

We lived in Saudi Arabia some years ago. Recalling my earlier criteria:

- we didn't go there to sponge off the state;
- we made an effort to integrate, although this wasn't encouraged by the Saudis, and learnt some useful Arabic phrases;
- we certainly made no effort to change things to suit our preferences - churches were illegal, for example, and a large number of people were repatriated when they were caught drinking alcohol at a party (we had just left!).

I held no resentment against the Saudis for any of this; it is their country after all.

It's just a shame that the same attitude isn't reciprocated in this country!

Now imagine that 500,000 Brits moved to Saudi.

You would soon see them displaying the same non integration attitude as our own lot here.

"incorrect quote removed"

a minority cannot force anything through we cannot blame the minority for changing laws
its the people we vote in as councilors and politicions that change laws

the trouble is they do things to placate one group without doing proper research often to get the vote
so lets stop scaremongering and blaming minorities and put the blame where it belongs

Well, that is quite possible. Of course, immigrating in such large numbers might be seen as a take-over bid. The next thing you know, we'd be changing all the laws to suit ourselves!

Seriously, though, in my experience most ex-pats did socialise together and that is quite understandable for two reasons:

- people naturally tend to want to live with what they are familiar with;
- the Saudi government/religious police did everything they could to discourage too much integration, especially where women were concerned. They saw non-muslims as a threat to their religion.

I quite understand if immigrants to this country prefer to socialise with their own countrymen, but I do think they should at least comply with all our existing laws and not attempt to change everything to suit themselves. (In some places Christmas, for example, has almost been outlawed although I confess that is down to trendy, PC councils.) That's what we were obliged to do in Saudi Arabia, and I don't resent it.

He's scared to face reality so it must be scaremongering. That's how he sorts it in his head.

Its not me moaning about immigration and then voting for a pro immigration political party.

What are these great policies the limp dems have, that persuade you to vote for them.
Cmon fess up.

Norcon, you moan, assume and are a common thief by dodging tax. Thats my opinion only, but everyone is entitled to it.
