Quitters come in all colours...

It probably started here.
In 1975 The Labour party held a special conference regarding British membership, and they party voted 2 to1 for Britain to leave Europe.

That says nothing, Europhiles come in all colours.

In other words JohnD is simply making it up.

Ah, so everyone just 'got on with it' after the accession referendum?

There wasn't any anti-Europe campaigning until UKIP came along?

I dare say there was. No doubt every EU nation state has anti Europe campaigning.

JohnDs tiresome 'quitters have been moaning for 40 years' is just meaningless drivel.

There is no doubt the EU has many advantages creating a common trading market and set standards.

However it has become a monopoly with unstoppable power and that means it can empire build as it wishes with no nation state having any real influence. It takes vast sums from lobbying so the biggest businesses yield the most power.

So do you deny that the tory party has been riven by the European argument for decades?

That is not 'meaningless drivel' it is fact!

(of course as has been posted previously anyone who is against the 'will of the people is a '5th columnist', so what's the difference? ;) )

And you think the lobbying/power argument is any different in Westminster?

If you do, then you are very naive!

That the advantages outweigh the disadvantages will become clear when we approach meltdown - a meltdown that our distinguished foreign secretary has admitted is quite a possibilty!

Has the Tory party been riven by the European argument any more than labour?

Have you conveniently forgotten the current labour leader has been a staunch Eurosceptic for 30 years and has voted against the EU on many occasions.

is just true.

In the context of what?

What is the purpose of saying 'quitters have been moaning for 40 years'....... it has no meaning, therefore drivel.

Why dont you say:

Jeremy Corbyn has been moaning about the EU for 30 years.....

The lobbying power in the EU is higher:

EU attracts 30,000 lobbyists which influence 75% of European legislation.

The EU employs 31,000 people -so there is virtually 1 lobbyist for every employee.

There is a significant revolving door of EU officials leaving to move across the street to a lobbyist job with their EU inside knowledge.

Over the years since the accession vote, then on balance it's a yes.

But I was merely pointing out that there has been an anti-europe campaign for all that time, regardless of political affiliation.

Thus your criticism of JohnD as regards his comment 'quitters have been moaning for 40 years' is factually incorrect!

Where is it factually incorrect?

As I said, there will always be somebody somewhere from any country and any political affiliation that is anti europe.....so therefore a bland statement such as quitters have been moaning for 40 years, is of no relevant meaning and therefore drivel. Factually Correct :p

And yet still no UK figures to back up your 'The lobbying power in the EU is higher' claim, notch...

This is getting a tad monotonous..

You claim something.
I ask for proof/figures.
You decline.

Very sad!

No doubt you'll now come up with another 'sidestep' weasel like (drawn out meaningless) post.

But hey ho...At least you are consistent!
