Holy Smoke

Heavy drinkers (those that enjoy getting drunk) often migrate into drugs and vice versa.
Everybody who drinks are mainly doing it for socialising, I have yet to be persuaded to take out a syringe and shove it in my arm. You are talking tripe as per usual.

They are not mutually exclusive.
I tend to stay away from drugs and people that take them. It's not my thing same as steroid users, I know plenty who take them and have been accused many times of taking them, any drugs or steroids are bad news usually.

It isn't the illegal type though I would never do that

OK.

I don't take illegal drugs which ever way you care to dress it up

Nobody suggests you do.

But on what basis do you think we should decide which drugs should be illegal, and which not?

Alcohol directly kills several thousand people each year in the UK (over 10,000 in 2023) and contributes to other deaths.

It's a known carcinogen, it causes high blood pressure, stroke, brain damage. More than 1 in 10 visits to accident and emergency (A&E) departments are because of alcohol-related illnesses. Each year in England more than 1.2 million violent incidents are linked to alcohol misuse.

Why do you think that alcohol should be a legal drug?

Alcohol is a drug, whether you like it or not.

It's allowed (legal), but it's mind altering.

Like so many things, drugs are not a black and white issue. Lots of grey areas.

You cannot say that cannabis takers are unwitting and innocent people; they are people who have knowingly broken a law, and being the sort of people who break laws they will most likely be breaking other laws besides the drug laws. Therefore any legalisation bids are pandering to the worst people in society.

Ridiculous.

Of course alcohol is a drug, but only when used as a drug. A person who, as an example, has a pint after work on a hot day, to quench his thirst and without the intention of getting drunk, is not drinking for the effect of the drug. You cannot say the same for cannabis, lsd, heroin, cocaine etc, which, apart from certain controlled medical uses, are only taken with the intention of intoxication.

So on that basis any consumption of any alcoholic drink for any reason other than thirst quenching makes it drug consumption.

Why do you think that drug consumption should be legal?

I would imagine you a party pooper, one of those that rolls his eyes at anyone enjoying themselves

Damn - you got me.

Who else but a party pooper would not want to experience this on a train?

Or this?

What kind of misery-guts would not want to see someone enjoying themselves like this?

Imagine the sort of kill-joy someone would have to be to think that this isn't 100% acceptable?

And just how curmudgeonly would a taxi-driver be to not be OK with his cab ending up like this?

As always, you've shown what a prince amongst men you are, and how everyone should desire to be part of your world.

Are you on drugs or something? you're re showing a video of people which isn't me? Should I show a video of a drug addict mugging someone and say what a prince amongst men that you are?

Are you on drugs or something?

No. Are you? Is that why you're not paying attention?

I like getting drunk it is recreational and socially acceptable.
The latter is not universally true.
Of course it is, nothing wrong with enjoying a good drinking session with friends.

And when I posted examples of behaviour which isn't universally socially acceptable, like throwing up on public transport or the back of taxis, like pssng where you shouldn't, your response was

I would imagine you a party pooper, one of those that rolls his eyes at anyone enjoying themselves

So I showed some examples of things which you think are so unworthy of criticism that anybody who does think it are the ones who deserve it.

My comment was about your attitude. About your belief that the sorts of behaviour I described and showed are universally acceptable.

People enjoying themselves is normal. You are not.
