HOW CAN THIS BE RIGHT

A neiboure a few doors away one who is 73 and has had a heart bypass and has difficulty in walking himself and his wife who has had a stroke and is in a wheelchair, they both need to have a blood test and the clinic is 2 miles away and the district nurse is refusing a home visit to take a blood sample, and he is being made to push her in her wheelchair to the clinic does anyone know any advise i can pass on to this poor chap.

Can't you just give the poor old folks a ride down to the hospital. I sort of understand that you can't/won't take them as you say it's not your problem but as a one off gesture to them it would help them out no end.

Perhaps one of your neighbours who is feeling a little more charitable could assist them.

Perhaps their GP could help in arranging transport for them.

If your realy, concerned?
then A) social services

B) help the aged.

you see since thatcher said there is no such thing as soiety, and also, we as a society will have to get used to society relying on charity, the state doesnt care anymore as an institution.

yeah right let's vote tory?

well i suggest you do it in the good old country .. and stop abusing this one...

Bob,

My wife used to work on the ambulance PTS (patient transport service) and she used to take the elderly and disabled who did not have their own transport to hospital for treatment, tests etc... I'm not sure how this was booked and the missus isn't here to ask at the moment but i'd imagine if they contact the place they're going for the test or their GP's surgery they would tell them how it can be arranged.

To all those suggesting he should offer to take them, maybe he should, but if one of them falls getting into/out of the car and hurts themselves, who can guarantee they wont be claiming compensation? I'd like to think my neighbours wouldn't if i was doing them a favour but in today's claim culture, who can be sure?? Don't think i'd offer unless it was family or a good friend that i trust.

hear hear

Although I know absolutely nothing about the Cuban health service, I cannot believe that what is happening here is government policy, It seems to me that this is a case of a maverick health official who needs, as someone suggested above, a little adverse publicity.

i asked them about this and they said they rang there docs up and the reception faxed the district nurse and said she would be round today wednesday but no one came they rang the clinic up and they said that they had not received any fax.
So they rang back the doctors receptionist and she rang the clinic and they rang the district nurse and she said she will not make a home visit.

ahaaaa i said is this a wind up no they said what do i do to help out i wanna hang this so called district nurse.

The point is here johnD IS it is not my job

But if you think about it, it's not the job of a nurse who works in a clinic either.

Ok maybe some people would just do it out the goodness of their heart.

I really don't see the problem in a taxi... ?
