Isn't that the real issue.

We have enough laws to cover everything, why do we need to copy others, just enforce the ones we have. But therin lies a problem, that is the root cause, of most of the issues raised in these threads

So you agree with Boris, we should not introduce a ban on full face veils that Denmark and other European countries have done.

a ban on full face veils
Burka - horrid piece of clothing and I would not bat an eye if it was banned. I find myself staring at women wearing these as I find the thing alien to look at. It is an extreme garment which provokes the kind of discussion we are having now.

There is nothing illegal about women wearing the Burka, The argument is about men forcing these women to wear it, by banning it men are forcing women not to wear it, it comes down to a matter of choice as to who is right or wrong ,IMO time and modern trends will gradually change the situation.
I remember as a child I was terrified to see a man wearing a Turban, he was alien to society the same goes for all types of religous or cultural clothing .

So banning it is oppressive, as is forcing women to wear it.
So leave it as a freedom of choice.
When proving one's identity is required, it is reasonable to ask women to prove who they are when producing photographic ID, e.g. licence, passport, etc.
When one is merely proving one's eligibility, by producing something like a utility bill, etc, there is no requirement for anyone to prove their identity because there is no photographic ID with which to compare the person.

I'm sure there could be down sides but that would sit well i think
It can be difficult to enforce, but then in a civilised country most people accept it as a sensible/correct concept to uphold...

So on second thoughts it would probably be an impossible ask in the UK !

So leave it as a freedom of choice.

That seems to me to be the most sensible approach.

Religious tolerance of Islamic dress for women should be a freedom of choice, whilst recognising that burkas are oppressive forms of clothing designed to subjugate women.

Noseall is right though, the burka: horrible bit of clothing.

I saw quite a few women wearing full burkas, no eye slit walking around an arab quarter of Bangkok. So they basically had a piece of black cloth totally covering their face, some wore glasses, which were on the outside. Cant be much fun, seeing the world through a black fabric. At the time it was 38deg and about 80% humidity.

Lot of ugly women out there, maybe the the muzzies aren't so backward as you seem to think.
Think Andrea leadsom ,a bag over her head could only be an improvement.

There is something about the covering of a persons' entire face that is disturbing to those wishing to engage with that person.
I agree, it's probably because the human face is such a large part of nonverbal communication. A facial expression can say so much without uttering a word and a big smile can warm us to people. Without facial communication it can leave people with the feeling of being wrong-footed.
