London cyclists dropping like flies

Can you provide any reasonable evidence that...

People cycle through red lights, because they don't know what they are.

That's bloody rich,, coming from the very same person who advocates cycling through red traffic signals, because it "might be safe" ???? to do so, (on the most vulnerable type of transport on public roads)

The only reason drivers stop at crossing, when there are no pedestrains, is fear of getting caught.

Logic dictates then, that cyclists jump red lights because they are not easily identifiable. Surely makes a strong argument for them having some form of numberplate/identification on their bicycle then? ( and you can bet the government wouldn't run a numberplate/ID scheme for bikes for free)

Driving home last night, in the dark. Just about to pull out from a junction when I noticed a cyclist coming towards me. NO LIGHTS!

Is it too much to ask for a grown man to buy a couple of lights and fit them on his bike FFS? No doubt if I had driven in to him, I would have been branded one of those nasty drivers that don't take cyclists into account.

NO, The wind resistance would slow them down, thus making the wearing of the lycra suit seem pointless for the 15 minute ride.

Darwinism.

You should have done your bit to strengthen the species.

What a country

Ah, something you have said with which I can agree!

What a country

Is this your reason for not introducing them?

Can you give any plausible reason for not introducing number-plates for bicycles, other than the obvious drawback that you'd have to pay for them?

He can't

What gets me though, is the fact that some bicycles , can cost thousands, yet the bloody clown riding it, can't be arrrised to spend a few quid on lights or anything that makes themselves more visible to other road users.

That's alright, then. If there's an accident and they're injured (or worse), you're covered because you couldn't see them.

This only works at night, though!

Exactly the same as the pair of knobs who used to swan around here, in 80K + motors, with phones surgically-attached to their ears.

Bell ends are bell ends, however they choose to get around.

I think the worst culprits in my area are the factory workers who think that because they are only cycling a mile or two, they don't need to be seen in the dark.

Quite true Brigadier. One of my pet hates are the fools chatting on mobile phones whilst driving.

True. There's a law that seems to have had very little impact on how people behave. I'm surprised that, with today's technology, it doesn't seem to be possible to automatically pick out people travelling at driving speeds by the variation in their signal and the speed at which they are transferred from one antenna to the next.

I'm of the opinion that if people want to kill themselves on the roads, whether driving or cycling, that's fine by me just so long as they don't involve innocent people. After all, suicide is no longer a crime.
