Would you prioritise the elderly over those who are keeping the country running

Protecting the vulnerable by giving them the vaccine is the fastest way to get the country running again.

Based on what?

I wouldn't have thought you would fall for conspiracy theories.
Looking at the historical figures and questioning the rhetoric...

Simply doing that isn't/shouldn't be a 'conspiracy theory', but apparently in 'newspeak' it now is!

I mentioned age, not vulnerability...

Don't try and twist the argument!

How long would you expect an 85 year old to live as opposed to a 65 year old or a 45 year old or a 25 year old?

Do you not believe that health rationing is going on in the NHS already?

I'm not twisting the argument.

The roll out of Covid vaccine is based on vulnerability not age.

Strawman argument.

It's irrelevant because the vaccine roll out would happen within a matter of a few months, so life expectancy is of no consequence.

It is the only logical explanation - for trashing the world economies

No, the logical explanation is governments around the world don't have any other solution.

There are plenty of people who argue lockdowns are wrong......there isn't anybody that can provide an alternative.

That doesn't make sense.

Look, there's a entire thread for conspiracy theories, can we keep them out of this thread.

We had a period where covid was just ticking away in the background. Then it started increasing again. The general stats show what caused that. They still do really. So more problem periods are far from unlikely.

So try very local variations in what people can do - didn't work out. So have a more or less full one and reductions look like they are going to be less than expected. So some find that their lock down is extended via tier3.

First wave started mostly around London and slowly percolated north. Curiously things are mostly the other way round this time. Problems have tended to be worse in the north and increases south have mostly been slower and lower. The infection levels were pretty similar across the country. Wonder why? Could it be that those south of north are more aware of how bad it really can be the further south they are? Seems to be the case in London and to some extent in B'ham.

Then twaddle from all sorts of people. Fact actions are aimed at being able to treat infected people. If hospital capacity fills they wont be able to do that. Another fact. What ever age people go into hospital a goodly proportion don't come out. Sure it's worse for 80 year old etc but it isn't that bright at 30, just fewer go in as people get younger. If some one needs a ventilator they probably wont be very happy when they come out - if they do.

Need treatment and can't get it? A lot of people will die full stop. The numbers given tend to be unbelievable but they will be based on experiences that the country has already been through. They will have a fair idea of how many will die if it runs riot.

So vaccinate in a way to try and make the max impact on hospital entries especially ones that may need to be there for some time.

Flu - this year the hospital occupancy is trivial. It hardly shows at the scale needed to show covid.
