Muslims Like Us

If those inbred dullards and dolts at Birmingham City Council had the nouse to put concrete blocks around the Brummie Christmas Market why didn't they do that in Berlin? Unbelievable.
I mean there were clear warnings from the intelligence services about this weeks ago.

Yep, the BBC, Reuters, CNN, Fox, ITV, etc are probably lying to us about the events in Berlin last night. Probably just a minor traffic accident, blown up out of all proportion.
There is no questioning terrorist attacks that have happened but you're twisting. As you well know, Noseall was referring to those dodgy videos that promote anti-Islam, fear and general hatred that some folk are so keen to post and believe. There's no factual evidence to those video's, they can only ever be found on those dodgy extreme websites or youtube (not proper news outlets) and it's frightening how many people believe them without question or doing any research into their authenticity.

Puppets and muppets.

Many mainstream media networks recently ran a story about Oxford university insisting that people use 'gender neutral' pronouns.

It does happen though.

Last week on TV a female person was introduced as an 'actor'.
Then there is 'chair' - there's nothing wrong with 'chairman' or 'chairwoman' depending who it is.

I really don't understand why an actress would object and prefer to be called an actor.
They would surely object if we did away with 'woman' and called everyone 'man'.

Still, not logic is it? - just people making a fuss over PC rubbish - when it suits them.

This is a true story:

My ex-wifes brother used to work for Leicester City Council. Late on a friday afternoon his co-worker asked him across the office if he was going out that night for a few beers. The bro-in-law said "nah mate I'm staying in with me bird...might order a chinky in."

Monday morning when he came in to work he got a written warning for racism and sexism.

I remembere the same when I worked in Cable tele in Birmingham. The customer had been suspended from a job centre for asking a co-worker if there were any black bin bags left. i have no idea what happened after this.

Is that worse than calling a plumber a plumber, rather than a plumberess?

Or a pilot or driver, rather than a pilotess or driveress?

Why should a person who acts not be called an actor?j

Interesting:
Actor (n.) Sense of "one who performs in plays" is 1580s, originally applied to both men and women.
Actress (n.) 1580s, "female who does something;"; stage sense is from 1700. Sometimes French actrice was used.

Is that worse than calling a plumber a plumber, rather than a plumberess?
It is more common, and not in the least demeaning nor derogatory.
Has anyone ever used 'plumberess' (it even has a red spell-check underline) - probably because there was none until recently.

Or a pilot or driver, rather than a pilotess or driveress?
As above.
Just being cantankerous for the sake of it lessens the effect when genuine.

Why should a person who acts not be called an actor?j
Because there is a word for a female one. Akin to Mister and Mistress.

Let's use the masculine for everything - oh wait, that would be sexist, wouldn't it?

See 'chairman'. As I said - when it suits them.

This country is drowning in this PC correctness caper / nonsense

Do please give us an example of something you want to do, that you think you can't because of what you call Political Correctness.

I know men who can't call people "Love", "Duck" or any local terms because of the fear of being accused of sexism. I know personally of one ward sister who castigated a maintenance man who turned up to put a whiteboard up in her office for saying "Morning love, I've come to put a whiteboard up for you." Her response was to say "Right, let's get this straight, I'm not your "love", nor will I ever be your "love" so just do your job and get out, or I'll report you." Poor chap didn't know where to look, did his job and left. Yes I know this didn't stop him doing his job, but it sure as hell put him on his guard (and made him look rather foolish in front of others) At work I call male and female patients "love" , "petal", "poppet", "duck" etc,, all the time, whilst attending to them. The day I fear to call any patient, or colleague, by a local term of endearment, is the day I'll pack up nursing. It's political correctness gone mad and PC has no place in our society whatsoever.
