National minimum wage is about £17k a year. Wage for a newly qualified nurse is £24k. It's not that great tbh, and certainly no reflection of the hard work and importance of their job. If someone earns £19k or so a year, they have to start paying back the student loan. So no, I don't think that starting a nursing career in almost 40k debt (probably more with costs of living) is that much of a carrot...

Imho any one training or going to. Uni for a medical qualification should have to pay nothing it should all be free

All Mottie said was that he didn't like foreign criminals.

Nothing wrong with foreigners that come over to do a paid job of work. It’s the foreign ponces, criminals and thieves that are able to freely come over here to ply their trade that I can’t stand.

No wonder there are lots of migrants going home.. The likes of Nosey keep telling them that they are not wanted by lots us. This is simply not true.

I know of 6 young people that have thought about security aspects and switched to nursing or teaching. Security being a major aspect. All did something else for a few years. Also one policeman that switched to nursing. An odd move considering time to a pension, unless that's changed and security. Reason,, quote - "I've taken a lot out of the community and want to put something back. Policing these days involves a lot of bull sh#t". It mostly related to policing community crime etc. I've added the involves a lot.

You make a valid point. It's interesting to relate it to increases in retirement age and companies often not keen on people who are over 40. Pension pots make more sense these days. It all suggests that taxation is a mess but some economists are wondering how an economy can work with few jobs being around.
