Does anyone know what vaccine has been used in Chile? Very high vaccine rate but apparently big rise in cases suddenly.
It gives the stats in this article Dangee: https://www.theguardian.com/global-...ile-coronavirus-lockdowns-vaccination-success
More than 6 million people have received at least one dose of either the Chinese Sinovac or US Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, and 3.2 million have had both jabs.
Edit: To add that the population of Chile is: 18.95 million (2019)

Moderna was the second one to be announced, but the US bought all the supply so when it was approved in January no one paid much attention. We're now looking at 4 options as there's also Johnson and Johnson going through approval, it should be signed off any day now.
So the US must have bought most of the supply before the UK could.
There's very limited options for choosing which vaccine you can have. If you've got an allergy you will probably get AZ instead of Pfizer, otherwise you're going to get the vaccine that whatever site you visit uses. Loosely hospitals = Pfizer, everywhere else AZ. Wales seems to have been given Moderna.
Perhaps the vaccination program will gain speed again when the Johnson and Johnson vaccine has been approved

From your linked article, international travel is not restricted. The British and Brazilian variants appear to be dominant. The 'death rate' is not following the same pattern as the 'cases rate'.
So while cases may be climbing, the death rate is declining.

Looks like theChinese one might be a bit questionable then

I don't think that there is any proof, but there is a general assumption that it does, on the number of cases reported.
Otherwise, why the reduction in the number of cases?
There have been studies that show this is the case as you are a “virus factory” for less time due to having the immune system to fight the virus

Cases per million, and deaths per million, are lower in Chile than in UK, though UK's recent drop is better.

Maybe because:

"“The issue with communication is that it hasn’t been consistent across government,” explained Aguilera. “While the health ministry has repeatedly called on people to look after themselves, the economy minister has been opening casinos, gyms and cinemas."

Which is what Boris is being unusually careful of with the slow release from lockdown.

Even with the old and vulnerable vaccinated a large outbreak with younger people will still swamp hospitals and result in a fair few deaths in the younger groups, the older unvacinatated groups and also some in the vaccinated ones as the vaccines aren't perfect.

Another clear and present danger is the 1,000,000 people who've gone on to develop "LongCovid"
I've never properly understood why some countries like India for instance has had a much lower mortality rate than ourselves

Unless you have the money...

Kerching again!

As I said before, so much for choice then

But hey, it seems the sheeple are happy to be jabbed with whatever they are offered...

In their arms be it!

Would you expect to be able to pick which flu vaccine you want? Or which of the hundreds of generic drugs you specifically want?

Of course not.
