Car break-ins

I wonder how long it will be before all tools are "smart". eg you have a code, or QR scanner on your phone with an app that links your tool to you, so nobody else can use it. Maybe you only need to do once, but if stolen you can then "brick it", then turn back on if it is recovered.

Somebody could probably make a lot of money investing something like that ...

yeah, although I guess the risk is somebody's phone dies, or gets nicked, and it will be tricky taking it for a service etc.

How big a tax increase are you prepared to pay to enable all these new prisons to be built?

You can only think within our current system Captain N; a system of rules we have made for ourselves which prevent us from doing what's necessary. It's no wonder the taliban are laughing at us.

My plans would not cost any extra money - they would save money. I would have nothing to do with the prison, police and justice system as it is now, that would all go. All the crooked lawyers and solicitors out on their arses. It need not cost a lot to run a prison, there need be no heat, light and not much food. Guards with guns and the authority to use them. We have an army that are currently paid for not doing much, use them as guards. All manner of locations can be prisons, whether high or low security. The government owns countless empty buildings. Local authorities do little else than build empty shopping centres. There are islands and other remote locations.

The modern British prison is not really a prison.

I don't think prison is the answer to most crimes, apart from those offenders we need protection from I really don't see what point it serves.

I'd much rather see an intense period of educational reform, followed by genuine community service.

The prison system has pretty much proven itself to be a failure.

That article (and I've seen countless others like it) is from the pro-drug lobby and so it would say cannabis is harmless wouldn't it?

Written by people who take drugs and are therefore breaking the law, trying to persuade other people to break the law by taking drugs. Showing photographs of people taking drugs, which is itself against the law. I might respect drug legalistion campaigners' views if they didn't break the law, but they don't so I won't. You'll never find a drug legalistion campaigner who doesn't break the law. AND they are usually criminals in other respects too.

The greatest warning against drugs is currently being shown around the world nightly. Just take notice of the next bit of taliban footage you see on the news. Look at them marauding around the dump, eyes like saucers. That is drug behaviour and it is what you are endorsing IT Minion.

I dunno about that. There’s loads of people out there that may be tempted to do bad/illegal things if there was no chance of them going to prison so it's not a failure in that sense.

If there was no risk of prison I would take over my street and become the illegal occupier of all my neighbours' homes.
I would also hunt down bad politicians and punch them.
So here you have a deterrent, start counting...

So, you're saying that without the threat of prison you're the type of person who would squat in hard working folks homes & you're also highly likely to go on a rampage in Westminster?
