Biomass captures co2 as it grows then releases co2 as it generates power.
It doesn’t make sense if destroying ancient forest but most of it is grown specifically for that purpose or uses pellets formed out of wood waste.

as an answer to CO2 issues it is a stopgap. It is better than using fossil fuels which are the major issue with CO2 as they release historically trapped CO2.

A drop in the ocean.
They spend that much everyday worshipping Lord Covid, the Omnipotent.

Utter utter bollux. If you think chopping trees down in the US, transporting them across the Atlantic Ocean in ships burning diesel to go through further processes to convert them into chips to be burned to create energy is less harmful than burning coal, I'd like to see the calculations behind that formula.

Google it! "Biomass fir" will give you loads of hits. Coal has to be processed too...
In Oz several years ago there were large numbers of roadtrains hailing trees - they look like christmas trees, which are grown for the biomass. They were getting shipped north, to Japan and elsewhere.

The power plant exhaust isn't as nasty as from coal, either.

You should check your comments for obvious contradictions before posting.

Drax power station burns pellets which gives off more CO² than coal. But the CO² is accounted for in the origin of the fuel. Therefore as the pellets are imported, the CO² is not attributable to UK total, whereas the coal might be.
Neither is the transport cost or CO² accountable in transporting any fuel.

sounds like the idiocy of Brexit.

let’s ditch a great trade with a massive trade bloc 30 miles away….and get one 10,000 miles away.

On the radio

using a petrol lawnmower for 1 hour is equivalent to 150 kilometres usage of a petrol car
