1) UK starts using VAT. Decides to charge it on Tampons.

2) UK joins EU. Agrees that it will not stop charging VAT.

5) UK moans and grumbles.

7) UK PM goes to EU and says "we'd prefer not to charge VAT on tampons"

8) EU says, "fine, if that's what you want, we can change the rules. Why didn't you ask sooner?"

Number 8 is total bollix as well you know. 1 and 2 are ropey, VAT was introduced as a condition for joining the EU, 5 and 9 you're just demonstrating what an idiot you are.
