That's the German built version of my Luton built Mk1 Carlton. Almost bought a Rekord, but a better Carlton in Ember red with full length Webasto sunroof came up.

When the Mk1 got too rusty, I bought a Mk2 with the 2200cc injected engine. Sold it a couple of years ago to another entusiast. Still regret it, but I had no time and it was sitting in the garage all the time. The old and the new replacement here -

I used to dream of owning a Lotus Carlton, when I was a teen.
 
Years ago bloke down this way had 3 lotus cortina’s sold em for less that 200 quid each

Got offered a lotus Elan for 800 back in the day it was in good nick as well turned the offer down :censored:

Got offered a 1938 ( ?) model X Matchless motor cycle for 600 turned that down as well :censored:

Sold a cobra replica with a Ford 302 engine in it for 6 grand :censored::censored::censored::censored::eek:

Sold a Norton framed weslake for 3 grand went to Sweden :censored::censored::eek:

My dad was offered a Lancia Delta Integrale for free by a customer he helped (accountancy) and couldn't drive anymore.
He turned the offer down because that beast was thirsty on fuel...

OMG imagine your bull dog face sat in one of those cars. It just wouldn't suit such a misery. Those cars were for people like me, Dynamic, Fast Moving, Smile on your face, Go Get em type of attitude.
That would have been a brilliant marketing strategy.
