Christmas cancelled in Essex

Id like to see anybody else do a better job

I'd like to see somebody else doing a better job, too.

As you say - anybody.

Anybody organised, intelligent, dedicated, honest and truthful, with a grip on their brief, who does not surround themselves with second-raters just because they pretend to agree with whatever he says.

Anybody who does not pump out unjustified optimism because he likes the warm glow of approval he gets from his followers.

Anybody with an outlook horizon of more than three days.

Anybody with talents that extend beyond meaningless waffle, hearty banter and lies.

The world needs better than incompetent crooks with silly hair.

You really think he wants to trash the economy, we are just going into brexit. Id like to see anybody else do a better job than he has running this country.

Hes made mistakes, plenty of them but so would anyone else.

Well he needs to get some new 'experts' because the ones he's using are taking us on the road to ruin with very few results to show for it. According to their own figures.

But then I suppose Johnson isn't really in charge. It's the ones lending us tens of billions who will have the say.

I am sorry for the people that have made plans, but surely this is the only decision Johnson could've made.

Maybe the 5 day Christmas was too optimistic, but this new strain couldn't have been predicted.

Then bojo said Xmas wasn't being cancelled and so we told him about the plans for Xmas and he was so excited about seeing his cousin, and grandparents.

Sorry to hear you made the mistake of believing your Prime Minister.

As the people who know him say:

"You can always rely on Boris

To let you down."

The ward I was visiting is in Bristol. At the time Bristol was supposed to be having a large increase in numbers, whereas it got off lightly in March to May. I did see it busy March to May, but was actually quieter now when we were supposed to be experiencing large numbers.

Well, you're lucky then. Essex is a different story.

All I hear from the government about the new strain (remembering viruses mutate all the time) is 'coulds' and 'maybes' about how much more infectious it might be. They don't know yet. It could maybe turn out to be less virulent. The bulk of the mutations that appear as a virus spreads are either harmful to the virus itself (meaning it is less likely to survive or replicate) or don’t change how it functions. Viruses can mutate themselves out of existence. So until the government has firm, independent scientific analysis of the mutation it's a bit previous to be panicking.

Yeah, I just assumed as it was so close to Christmas chances of reneging were very slim....

Obviously we were very wrong on this.

I'm also dismayed at the whole show to be honest, nothing is really clear everything is contradictory...

Apparently I can go to a communal religious event though with God knows who....

As i mentioned earlier, this new version is probably what has rapidly spread around local schools. In the days before my son's 1200 student school closed, only 5/30 kids were in some classes, the school had to close as most children and half teachers were in isolation, and everyday more people were testing positive. All these kids will pass on to grandparents on Christmas Day....

I said: "The pubs (and other "hospitality" establishments) have been closed oop North for most of the year, and yet this bug continues to spread - if you believe the hype that is".

Notch replied:
That's right, it's the people in them.

So I now repeat, pubs (and other "hospitality" establishments) have been closed oop North for most of the year, and yet this bug continues to spread - if you believe the hype that is.

ERGO, if the pubs have been closed for most of the year, no people have been in them for most of the year.

Can I make it any clearer Notch? I'm here to help.

I agree, tbh what I see in pubs and restaurants they were generally well setup for covid, and certainly seemed safer than shops (seen the queues for Primark?)

I do wonder how many people are disappointed because they can't get together to celebrate the birth of Christ, as opposed to just moaning that they can't meet up scoff food and get ****ed - like they can do on the other 364 days of the year? (Subject to tier rules)

Not sure why London is being locked down when Covid deaths there are a 10th of the numbers in April and hospital admissions are a quarter. We eased off restrictions in the summer with similar figures, why are they now going in with hard lockdowns now?

it's a pre-Christian midwinter festival, with Christianity piggy-backed on to it.

Do you really think that 25th December has some historical significance?
